The Thistle Gastropub — Restaurant in New Glasgow

Stopped in here along the way home from Halifax with my wife.

It was a Sunday. As soon as we walked in, we were told to get a spot, no problem. We sat down and waited 15 minutes to get a drink and then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes to get our food ordered. We were told they didn't have what my wife wanted, waited another 15 minutes for the waiter to come back. During this time, 2 other couples came in, sat down and got no service, and eventually just left.

At this point, I wanted to leave, but decided to stick it out just due to the time we already spent inside and we had a drink & at this point, it's been an hour inside, still waiting for food.

I will say, the patio had a couple groups of people outside, and it seemed all attention was going towards it, and it seemed very short staffed. 3 servers, and only 1 was barely paying mind to us.

We finally got our food after an hour and some, quickly ate and spent another 10 just trying to get somebody's attention to give us the bill.

Originally, I went here because my wife was saying something about some sort of fun eating challenges, but they're gone.

I honestly hate to leave a review like this, but wow, it took us 10 minutes to eat and over an hour to even get the food.

Maybe it was just an off day, Sunday. I get it - but wow.

Made a trip to New Glasgow and decided to go to the Thistle-we used to go often when we lived in New Glasgow. First off wings were excellent- a different waitress dropped off wings to the table- no utensils or napkins- Deb had to go up to bar to get some as everyone knows you can`t eat wings without some napkins- we waited for a casear salad that we ordered never did make it to table! We waited for a little while once we finished eating-still no waitress! Deb went up to bar and requested a take home tray and also asked for a bill-pointing out that there had better not be a charge for a casear salad ordered but never delivered. We put leftovers in take away. Finally our waitress shows up- however no bill- she half heartedly apologized but it seemed to lack sincerity. My wife and I were there today (November 4th) shortly after 1. The food was awesome, however, the server, not so much. She was preoccupied at the bar, talking to her friend about a TV show (Dynasty), on her phone either texting or scrolling Facebook. We were finished eating, and waited for about 15 minutes, she was busy chatting at the bar. Finally I said to my bride, " let's go, we'll pay on the way out". We paid, didn't get a thank you, just a "have a nice day" (after an 18% tip). On the GOOD side, the food was fantastic!! On a side note, we are from out of Town and this is our 3rd trip there.
