Cumin Kitchen and Drink — Restaurant in New Minas

Update: I hate to write this update, but it's my honest opinion and I feel like my original review is somewhat misleading. We visited again about a week after our first experience at Cumin Kitchen. We really were looking forward to returning because of the wonderful experience we the first time. Our second visit was not nearly as good. I've read other reviews stating that consistency is lacking and unfortunately, I'd have to agree. This time our meals were some of the worst I've had anywhere. We both had the Hot Yogi Bowl. I could not eat mine after just a few bites; it was truly awful. My husband ate some of his but couldn't finish. We were so disappointed because we made a trip from the city just to eat there, again. Since then, we've been in the area but decided not to try again because we didn't want to risk another bad experience. My husband and I had lunch at Cumin today, for the first time. We are vegetarians and have had difficulty finding places to eat out that don't disappoint. I love to cook and am fussy when we eat out. I find most restaurant dishes (even vegan) have far too much oil and salt for my taste. Today, we were pleasantly surprised. Our food was absolutely delicious- every bite. And, prices were fair. Very rude service the day we went to Cumin. We had heard great things about this restaurant and were so looking forward to going. We ended up having attitude from our server when we kindly requested menus (since it was taking so long). She then accidentally spilled the water when bringing it, which wasn't a bit deal however she said some rude words about being rushed because we asked for the menus and then proceeded to slap/ throw the menus in front of each of us. We were honestly shocked. Some minutes later she came over to take our drink order and very passive aggressively with a huge fake smile asked what we wanted to drink. We didn't order anything other then the water as we already had a horrible feeling being served by this waitress. She did not return to us to take our order for quite some time so we got up to leave. She said bye to us with an eye role. I do not feel so great about leaving this 1 star review, however I have never experienced service like this in all my life... Totally shocked. Even the management did nothing to smooth this situation. I have heard the food is great and you can see this from the other reviews. Went for a busy brunch service. It was a beautiful day so we chose to sit outside on the patio. The Queens plate came first to allow the kitchen time as they ran out of poached eggs and were doing the Benny fresh. When the farmers croissant reached, I started on the salad.

A LIVE CATERPILLER was in my salad. When the waitress came, I showered her. She removed the plate. When she came back, I was told they wash the fresh greens they get in, it must have already been outside, and that it was dead. It was very much alive as I poked it in front of the waitress before the plate was taken away.

I did not see management or the chef even once the plate was brought back. I was made to feel bad for showing them their error. I was not hungry after, as this poor LIVE CATERPILLER was moments from my mouth and covered in dressing.

Horribly dealt with situation. Don't make the customer feel bad for finding live bugs in their food. Have management and kitchen staff show their face and apologize. Thanks for comping that one dish from the bill. Having to pay after that meal really didn't settle well. The dressing was nice, the LIVE...
