We have been traveling for three weeks and this was easily the worst and most disappointing meal we have had. We were fooled by the lineup out the door waiting for a table, assuming this was a good place to eat. We were told that it would be 20-25 minutes, but instead ended up waiting 40 plus minutes...waiting would have been no big deal if the food was good. All our take out items arrived, except for the chicken burger, and were placed on the counter, which seemed a little odd. We are used to take out orders being placed nicely in a bag once everything is ready to easily transport home but we had to make a request for a bag then had to pack it up ourselves. A short drive to our place and we quickly identified a few issues. The orders of fish chowder were extremely small (maybe it was put in the wrong container?) for the price ($15) and lacked taste. The items in the soup were shredded? Also the bun that came with it was stale. Next up was the moose burger, this was probably the best of the items but was quite dry, cold and the bun was soggy. The biggest issue was the chicken burger. After a few bites we soon realized the bun was moldy. We called the restaurant right away to advise them of this problem. Instead of receiving any sort of apology the person on the phone seemed somewhat annoyed to be bothered with this problem. They did say, after being asked, that they would make a new one. So we drive back and picked up the new (non moldy) one. When we were there, we were not offered any refund or anything to make up for this problem (which I thought was standard practice). Thankfully the new non moldy burger tasted good.

We will...

I wanted my wife to have some fresh delicious fish on our visit to Newfoundland and we were recommended this place by a local. It was an hour out of the way of where we were planning to go, but hey, we are on a road trip. Lets do it. We came down here and got some great pictures of the bay and its surrounding areas. So for that it was already worth it. The restaurant was quite busy. We didnt have to wait, but there was a steady stream of people pouring in with almost all tables taken around lunch time. The menu was very dated. I mean you can see years of grime built up on the edges and on the pages. The prices have been whited out and repriced with a pen countless times. I know its a fisherman's town and you have some hard working people touching it as they come in, but this is was beyond that. Im sure it doesn't cost a lot to update it a bit so that it looks... hygienic. I had a cheese burger and my wife had the fisherman's delight dinner and a serving of jiggs dinner (available on Wednesday only) which she was going to take on the road. My burger and fries were delicious. Well cooked with fresh vegetables and big serving of fries. My wife loved her dinner. Everything was prepared and seasoned well. Best food by far on the island. The price point was fair for the quality and portions. The atmosphere within the restaurant could use a bit of an update as well.

Verdict: If youre looking for the best food around, we drove an hour and were not...

Fish reasonably tasty. Way expensive for the joint. Fortyfive-flippin'-minute wait AT THE TABLE after ordering. No "sorry", no "here's some fries", no "can I refresh your water" NUTHIN! Finally, about 25 minutes in, two slightly old supermarket dinner rolls and margarine. You can make margarine taste pretty good. Not this one. And my Newfoundland pea soup. Tasteless, old split peas, ham bits without flavour, and potato and carrot for god's sake! Who puts them in pea soup? I've had better pea soup from a can! So finally the grilled cod burger appears. Nice fresh piece of fish. Tomato slices and lettuce ok. Tartar sauce meh. Very forgettable retail sesame bun, soggy and soft. See, I've forgotten it already. Fries actually decent for fresh cut. Two tablespoons of coleslaw (sorry, chopped cabbage with cheap mayo-like goop) as well. Second plate - pan fried halibut. Really, really good. Rice pilaf good if plebian. And more carrots for a veg. And another cold, supermarket bun. And more margarine. Then an apple juice (small) and 2 waters, and don't let the door hit you in theass going out folks. So, with 70 minutes shot, and over 50 bucks lighter, we trudge out. How many stars did I...

I was very excited to dine-in at the heart of Gros Morne National Park at Newfoundland and Labrador. I am looking for something special and a unique experience about this place. Entering this village, It caught my eyes this big lobster sign outside the restaurant. We checked in and came back to that restaurant we saw . But as soon as we get in, employees/ waitresses are not even having good vibes. As we're walking to sit down in our table, I have noticed big crumbs on the floor..lol, not so appetizing sight to see. I asked one of the employee nicely if she could swept the floor and she got offended..sarcastically laughed and said "We are to busy for that, small kids often leave a mess and not really healthy to sweep the floor when people are eating around. THEN LEFT. Later on, she apologized and thanks us for reminding them. I ordered pizza for my son, and the waitress said they just have a big order of pizza and could not make one until around 18:30?😒. Also, I order lobster, and they don't have it out of season. I really don't like giving bad reviews but their's really nothing special about this place.

Let me start by saying that the staff were extremely friendly! They were really nice. That’s kind of where it stops. We were seated right away, however, it took them about 20 minutes to come take our orders. We also didn’t even get to ask for drinks until they came to take our food order. After that, it was another long wait, about a half an hour to 40 minutes before we got our food. We had had a long day and were starving and should have honestly gone elsewhere just because of the wait time alone, about an hour total. The fish and chips were okay. It came with a tiny container of coleslaw (which wasn’t too bad) and two pieces of fish (which was bland, except for the crispy skin, the lemon slice and their tartar sauce) and quite a bit of fries. That was probably the best part of my meal. The Moose burger platter came with a very thin patty. Definitely not at all a burger we were used to as it was rather small for the price. It also came with the same fries and coleslaw as the fish and chips did. It’s not a place we would go to again.
