I usually really like the Works, and have previously enjoyed this location. We went a few weeks ago (October 9th for dinner), and were quite disappointed with the service and quality of the burgers.
We had a table of 4. The server mixed up everyone's orders, put the wrong burgers infront of people - we sorted that out on our own. But the different buns were mixed up, I got a white bun for mine while my father got a sesame bun - but I got the sesame and he got the white bun. The sesame cost extra and he was quite disappointed with that, and we still got charged even though we brought it up with the waitress.
I got a maple burger, one of the special burgers - it tasted quite nice but everyone's patties were well done and fairly dry. Usually they cook them to be medium so it's a bit pink inside...flavour was still there but not very juicy. Everyone's burgers at our table came out this way.
My girlfriend got the warpig burger, which was missing both the cheese and BBQ sauce that it's supposed to come with - and the mushrooms weren't sauteed either...seemed like canned mushrooms. We also got cactus cut fries, which were good but they used to come with chipotle or dipping sauce...when we asked the waitress said they don't come with dips anymore. Every other location serves dips, and I see other pictures from here that had dips. We got so tired of bringing up each problem, that we just ate what was served. This seems like a kitchen and service issue, and there was no apology or compensation with our meal. We are pretty easy going and usually love these locations...but the Newmarket one seems to have gone downhill.
We invited my parents here because we always rave about how we enjoy the works, but we all left disappointed and I doubt they'd be willing to try it again after our experience. Perhaps it was an...
Read more1 hour to make 6 burgers - does that sound normal to you? First time we went into this place it took them 45 minutes to make 4 burgers when the place was empty. Today, we went in, there were 6 other people in the restaurant eating their food. We ordered our drinks (4 waters 2 cokes) it took them 30 minutes to bring it to us after we reminded them of our drinks 3 times. Before the drinks arrived, it took them 20 minutes to bring out our onion rings, and the girl forgot that we ordered 2 orders of onion rings. Then, 45 minutes later, we asked about our food, the girl told us it's coming any minute now. We waited another 15 minutes (1 hour after we walked in) we asked again about our food and the girl again, advised us that they are almost ready. When we asked her why it's taking this long, we were shocked to hear her excuses: 1) she said that other people ordered food from their restaurant through Skipthedishes so they had to prepare their food first. 2) only 1 chef was in the kitchen (mind the fact that he didn't touch our burgers for at least 45 minutes after we came in because pickups and online orders are more important than the people that are sitting at the restaurant waiting for food, and clearly it takes 1 hour to make 6 burgers. 3) the lamest excuse was that he was going over the list of the ingredient for each burger to make sure he isn't missing anything. ARE YOU SERIOUS? 1 HOUR TO DO THAT? I am never ever returning back to this place nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. This location does not even deserve a 1 star. We ended up leaving the restaurant and on our way home had to stop and get pizza as we had an infant with us. Horrible...
Read moreWell, we come here often, and this evening unfortunately I was not impressed. I decided to take my wife out for dinner , we both worked late so we decided to make our way over to The Works. They welcomed us, very friendly, took us to a table, mind you the place was NOT all that busy,we arrive to our table that still needed to be wiped down......really? The manager and waitress were genuine, and we're sincere. We ordered our food and when it arrived, it was like the twilight zone......from shinanigans in the back area, to screaming and laughter in the kitchen, this was evident as we were sitting as close to back as you can get. After a few minutes the food arived, my wife's crispy chicken and my "bold slaw" were not fit to be served, given to us by the manager by the way..... Our dinners arrived at the same time but ....wait for it....the crisky chicken sandwich my wife order was one piece cut in half, about the thickness and size of a toonie, they took it before I had a chance to take a pic, cause I know it sounds too ridiculous to be true...trust me it was, we've been here several times, I even asked the manager if the restaurant changed ownerships? The bold slaw was dated and was not Fresh, I have eaten it before, and the manager had Manti ones that the slaw will be thrown out. So why serve us in the first place. They staff were very kind and apologetic, especially the waitress Melissa, they did wnd up comping the one meal and again, they were very apologetic, I need to think really hard on wether we will be returning to this restaurant. ......kept...
