Not a fan of buffet restaurants. But I must admit, this was really good in terms of food, service and ambiance. Wow! Many choices. Delicious Chinese cuisine. Something for everybody. They keep bringing out the food so you know it's fresh. Otherwise, I would not be interested in a buffet.
You could enjoy a roasted turkey dinner with all the sides for a three day period. It was the Canadian Thanksgiving special over this long weekend. (Which is the same weekend as the American Columbus Day/Indigenous People weekend). Mandarin does this only for the holiday time. The butternut squash soup was creamy and delicious. I was too full to try the turkey. But my friend enjoyed it thoroughly.
I enjoyed the Chinese cuisine, prepared nicely. The ginger beef and salmon teriyaki stand out. Vegetable fried rice was really good. The salad bar, with all kinds of toppings, was also a hit. The Thai mango chicken, and mushroom sides to the salad were notable. I'm not big on desserts, but if you are, you will enjoy the offerings. All kinds of cakes, pastries, ice cream, even flan.
Cheery atmosphere. Clean. Group of friends and I were across the border in Ontario for the Canadian Thanksgiving festival and shopping. We finished our two day outing with lunch at Mandarin before heading home.
Only a couple of miles from the actual Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Great if you're out tourist and only want to spend money on one meal - it will leave you full and satisfied! Free and plenty of parking. The buffet price is not posted on their website. Perhaps because the price changes according to supply and demand?? This would be some thing I would like to see. Since it was a holiday weekend in Canada, I believe our prices were a little higher than usual. We paid $30 CD for an adult. With the senior discount it was $24 CD. We were told children 12 and under were $15 CD. These were the lunch prices today. And dinner pricing would be higher. Alcohol is a separate charge. We would...
Read moreWhat happened to my husband at this Mandarin location was unsanitary and unacceptable. While using the restroom stall, the cleaning staff repeatedly pushed a mop inside, splashing dirty water onto his shoes and pants — even after he made it known the stall was occupied. This was an invasion of privacy and a breach of basic sanitation protocols.
What made the situation worse was management’s response. Mandarin promotes itself as a restaurant of the highest standards — a place families trust for quality, cleanliness, and Canadian hospitality. Yet when faced with a clear violation of hygiene and guest boundaries, the manager downplayed it, made excuses, and acted as if nothing was wrong. That is a complete failure of leadership. A woman should not be cleaning a men’s restroom while it is actively in use — just as it would be unacceptable for a man to clean a women’s restroom while guests are inside. Protocols exist for a reason, and ignoring them puts customers at risk.
This is not just about a mop. It’s about poor management, lack of accountability, and the danger of brushing off valid complaints. Instead of taking this seriously and ensuring it never happens again, the manager chose to dismiss and re-victimize the customer who raised it. Mandarin banks its reputation on high standards, but what we experienced was the opposite — a situation that could have been handled with dignity, but instead was handled...
