I have been here three times now and was only satisfied once. The first time I went we arrived 1 hour before their breakfast ended and it took 50 minutes for us to get our food. I ordered french toast and the other ordered the eggs breakfast, neither of those orders should take 50 minutes. I understand if we came right before their breakfast ended why it might take a little bit longer but we arrived 1 hour before it ended which has no excuse.
The second time I went it was fine, we went a little bit earlier and the service was a little bit faster. This time and the previous time we felt the size of our orders was not worth the price. Although the restaurant was essentially empty we hardly had anyone come to our table, and never had our coffee refilled.
The third time I went, which was this past weekend, was the worst. I ordered french toast again and the other ordered eggs benedict. The french toast was $14 and I received 11 home fries and 3 pieces of toast. This was not enough to fill me so I ordered an extra serving of home fries which were another $5. My friend got these egg benedict which they said were fine, not as good as other restaurants, they came with tater tots and it cost $16. We also each got coffee and they came to fill up our cups once. Our waitress did not know what eggs benedict was and had to check how the eggs were made, she had to check what came with them, and after taking our order she did not come to our table once and instead spent the entire time setting up cutlery at another table. By the time we were 1/2 way through eating our food the restaurant was empty at 11am on a Saturday. Now I am fine with paying the full amount for an extra side, however if your restaurant is empty and a customer is only asking for more of something they did not enough of I would think they would at least say sorry. I paid a "premium" amount for my meal, got a very small serving size, asked for more of what I had already paid for, the restaurant was empty and they did not even say sorry; essentially I had to pay $18 for a proper serving size of a breakfast, and I have never required an extra side to feel satisfied. Also my friend was server tater tots rather than home fries which is very strange.
There food is pretty good don't get me wrong, but they are charging more than other breakfast places in the city, serving less food, and the service is pretty bad. You could go to any other breakfast restaurant in the city and get more for your money, if not that you would at least you will get better service.
I really wanted to like this place but after going three times now I have just been left unsatisfied and...
Read moreI had pretty high expectations of this location after reading reviews from other cities. I will start off by saying I went on opening day near the end of the night, there was a special bogo free on this day. The location is in a strip mall type of area. Parking was easy to find. You can eat in or take out. A staff helped me know which line to stand in to place my take out order. I ordered 2 one piece haddock with onion rings , mushy peas, and jalapeño corn bread. They were out of corn bread and I was told the bogo I had to get fries for my free order. They gave me a pager type buzzer and told me I could wait in my car . I waited 25 minutes (which seemed fair opening day and it was busy) . When it got close to the time I figured my order would be ready I waited inside . One thing I noticed was a staff was mopping the floor and a very chemical smell was coming from this , there were people dining in right next to where this was . I would find this off putting if I had ate in . Once my order was ready there was a staff who gave plenty of condiments (tartar sauce in pouches which I never like at fish restaurants especially since its not the cheapest place). I got my food home and started with the mushy peas and they were just not great, the onion rings were extra greasy, was not having high hopes at this point. The fish is good . The batter was tasty the haddock was not great but fresh. All in all I wouldn't return but as a pescatarian who's had fish all over canada I'm pretty selective. They do have a breakfast menu as well.
-friendly staff -clean restaurant -ample parking -tasty fish batter -good selection of menu items and sides -pager while you wait for your take out food -comfortable waiting area
-Not fresh tartar sauce -possible long wait times as a new restaurant -chemical smell at night -bogo is only with fries -mushy peas were not great -out of stock items but...
Read moreOpening week, bogo 1/2 price, ordered halibut, haddock, clams and calamari. Halibut was excellent, thick, meaty, crispy. Haddock was disappointing, although it is supposed to be 6oz vs 5oz for the halibut, it was very thin, more breading than fish, no way it was larger than the halibut, discarded 1/2 the breading, maybe just got a bad piece, clams were very tasty, at least the 1/2 order that actually was clams, the other 1/2 was just breading, maybe I got the bottom of the bag or something, also very small pieces and small quantity, although inexpensive was poor value, also guessing was frozen, not fresh as batter was very different, calamari was large chunks of something but never seen pieces of calamari like this, not rings, texture can only be described as slimy and mushy, maybe badly undercooked, tossed them out, sadly the flavour of the coating was actually quite good, but unfortunately they just were not edible, fries were ok, not my taste as I prefer crispier but did appreciate not salted, prefer to salty myself anyhow, onion rings were great, large quantity of both fries and rings, hate the packets of tarter sauce, horrible, they gave a container of seafood sauce with the clams, why not provide decent tarter sauce, also take out apparently does not include coleslaw although the meals being served in house seemed to, seems really cheap considering same price, might try again after a while to see if it was just opening shake-out, was very busy, maybe see if the cod is better than...
