Went here as it looked cool on line. Attended for breakfast. It was a little gritty. Strong odor of burning grease. Air makeup and vent system were turned off or not working right. Often small businesses that are struggling will keep their vents off so as to not to take the heat out of the building. They don't seem to get that the carcinogens are not being expelled and thus can poison your staff and customers. You will note the strong smell of scorched grease and burned toast following you around all day after 5 minutes of being in this establishment.

The place would be a lot nicer if it was painted and cleaned up. Most painted services were pealing and flaking or faded and sad looking.

To be fair the food was well cooked however quantity was served in child like portions.

Decent tasting Coffee that was mixed by service girl, no refills, and served in a take out cup. Paid at counter before getting food. Felt like a lunch line at a street kiosk or food truck. I suppose it saves on dishes labour serving in take out cups.

Wait staff spent most of her time in the back. Took our money, ($26.00), 10 mi utes later served the food and we left without seeing her again. We were the only customers, so not sure why she chose not to check in on our experience. Total time in business was around 40 minutes.

I would recommend skipping this place in favor of the breakfast place across the road. Although it is as well, very faded and dated looking, there appeared to be a lot more customers in attendance. Perhaps that is the truest reflection of the Sono's Cafe experience in and of itself. Will not...

Nothing to give this place credit for.

Place smells a bit funky walking into it. To me its the smell of the place not being cleaned properly period.

Ordering process was painful, especially as I was the only customer in the place and who can't put bacon inside an omelette. They flat out refused like I was putting them out.

Food came and nothing but the toast tasted right. Definitely was not feta that I asked for in my omelette. Realistically feta is not really supposed to melt like cheddar or mozzarella. Something was off with the bottle of Franks Redhot too. Not sure that it was changed out post-lockdown.....the first one I mean.

Last thing, who has a drive thru diner? They open a side door and huck some food out at the cars pulling up like a McDonald's. Weirdest thing and didn't fit what should be a traditional sit down diner.

I don't know who is giving these rave reviews but I know this place can't recover from the disaster that was my experience. I doubt most of their problems were due to COVID and they existed long before...

Ok Listen up. You Losers who think you can say terrible things about the cleanest restaurants that you will ever walk into, Hate to see most of your homes,, Stop!!! Trying to destroy a business because you feel this is what you need to do,Your Losers.. The staff is friendly and serve the food with precession. The food is the best that you will ever receive anywhere. In Fact we stopped yesterday ordered two cheeseburgers and fries, The fries were the best I ever had, Hot and crispy,The burger wow.. This was a great meal,, We stop by here every chance we can..You people need to know, that these donuts are made fresh everyday,Maybe go up the road and grab one from Tim Hortons,, Maybe just stay there,Your useless reviews will be laughed at.. I for one will never go anyplace else for a meal. the drive through window is perfect,, This is the place to go,, Now LOSERS TAKE A BITE...

A big disappointment. You walk into a decaying cafe that's dark, not well directed by the host, and has multiple dirty tables but no customers. You pay at the front like a chip truck and your food is brought to you later. The price is good but you get freezer burnt tasting potatoes, okay eggs, and weird tasting bacon. No table service after the meals and she was on her phone the whole time. We left and decided you know what, the original reviews said it was a donut shop before so let's try the donuts at least. We got two and when we asked to pay by debit, we basically got scolded because the purchase wasn't high enough for debit. The donuts tasted like coffee time donuts. Go to anything else on your way to Niagara-on-the-lake.

It is my go-to place whenever I bring my motorcycle in for service at Niagara Race Crafters. 60's diner like atmosphere the breakfasts are delicious and the people are friendly. I feel like I'm at a true family run business where people know you like to eat and they like to serve food. Well met Sono's Cafe. See you again on my next motorcycle service or trip through Virgil, ON. Update: been back several times now (anytime motorcycle brings me back). Still excellent food in variety and many of the comfort items more typically found in the GTA. Adding the pic to explain my wife’s question…”so…did they bring your food on roller skates?”. LOL

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. When you walk in, order at the counter and pay when you order. You then seat yourself, and they bring your food to your table when it's ready. No refill on your cup of coffee, and when you order water, it's a bottle vs a free glass of water. We ordered French toast and pancakes, and the pancakes were the star of the meal. I would recommend them to anyone coming for the first time. They had old TV shows playing in the background for an enjoyable ambiance. For the price, it's a good experience and worth trying.
