The meal was either overcooked or rawâwe were a bunch of peopleâ,tables were dirty and I specifically asked for no rice or vegetables beside my plate and it came with vegetables. When I said I didnât wanted this, the waitress literally told me to pick up the meat with my hand from the plate, I have no idea what she was thinking. I came here with my family and my family friends, we ordered a bunch and they served almost every meal wrong/mistook it. I asked for normal coke and they brought me a diet one without letting me know. The meat I ordered was overcooked while other one was raw. I am not recommending this place to anyone, search for a different restaurant than going to this one and get treated like crap. The worst customer service ever. Floors are dirty and thereâs food under every single table, you probably are going to step on food that is swept to the floor from the tables when cleaning. I was in Vancouver for a couple of days and this is the worst meal I ever had. Two person from my table ordered the same dish but they brought different ones, when we told them that theyâre not the same dish, she literally was gaslighting us as if we were insane. When we were almost done with our plates, one waitress came up to us and told me to get up so they can use the table for other customers. And then I let them take table she didnât even wait for a minute and then started to clean the table, seeping the food on the table on me. So, probably the best thing to have in here is just the sodas, but they probably going to bring it wrong like I mentioned before. The worst place to have dinner or anything,...
Read moreWe visited Mehman Restaurant in North Vancouver yesterday and ordered koobideh for six people and one chenjeh. This review is specifically about the koobideh.
To put it plainly, it was shockingly yellowâcompletely overpowered by turmeric, both in taste and appearance. But the issue wasn't just the turmeric. The meat had a strong, unpleasant smell that the turmeric seemed intended to mask. Unfortunately, it didn't help; it made things worse.
The texture was also disappointingâso dense and tough that even cutting it with a knife was difficult. It felt like it may have been bulked up with breadcrumbs or some filler, which could explain the strange consistency. Anyone familiar with good koobideh knows what it should look, smell, and taste like, and this was nowhere close.
What made the experience even worse was the response (or lack thereof) from the management. When we asked to speak with the manager to express our concerns, he refused to come out. This kind of disregard and unprofessional behavior from both the staff and management was truly frustrating.
There are many other Persian restaurants in the area that offer far better food and service. You can take a look at the photos I took, though I only wish I could share the taste and smell tooâso youâd fully understand our disappointment.
Do yourself a favor and choose any other place. Stay...
Read moreMy son and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. We ordered the combo plate for 4 people (4 skewers koobideh- 2 skewers Joojegh kabab- 2 skewrs kebab chenjeh-4 dishes of rice). Food was also served with 6 pieces of bbq tomatoes, some butter, and onions. Rice was well done and unlike some other Persian restaurant this restaurant had used real saffron to decorate the rice plates. Koobideh was awesome. Joojeh kabab was well marinaded and tender. We enjoyed the food. At the end we were served the traditional Persian tea and two pieces of baklava (on the house). We will go back to Mehman Restaurant.
--------------------------------Things to improve------------------------------- 1- Please acknowledge the customer fast and be more responsive: When we entered the restaurant, there was no line up and restaurant was relatively not busy. We did wait for a while, before we were invited in. I understand you don't have the policy of "wait to be seated" and guests can sit wherever they want, but they need to be notified of this soon. 2- Food plates and trays are not steady and keep spinning: We had to put some napkins under the plates to keep them steady. You put so much into preparing such delicious food, so please...
