EDIT: At the risk of sounding pretentious, I am updating my previous review of this Second Cup location. I have had opportunity to return to this location several times now due to certain circumstances, and the issues I had with my initial review seem to have been a one time issue. I have not experienced anything negative since my initial frustrating experience. I changed my rating to 3 stars, but I felt it would be appropriate to update my review itself. They do make good Gingersnap Lattes! I will keep my initial review up just so I'm not censoring myself.
TL;DR: Confused staff forgot to make my coffee then almost gave it to someone else even though it wasn't very busy at that time. Also, only one outlet in the whole cafe has power going to it. (Don't sit at the window seats if you need power)
The morning staff were very disorganized and not very courteous. I ordered a bottle of water, a sandwich, and a large coffee. I was one of 4 or five people in the cafe, everyone else having been served already. To be fair, they did have their drive thru running fairly consistently.
I had to repeat my coffee order four times because the girl wasn't trying to listen to me, she was helping the drive thru window and wasn't making eye contact with me. Eventually she stopped what she was doing, took her headset off, looked at me and asked me what I wanted one more time. After telling her my order, I paid and stepped off to the side. I found a seat to plug my laptop in and waited. And waited. And waited. After about 5 minutes my sandwich was ready, so I continued to wait for my coffee. And waited, and waited. After about ten minutes and after seeing the ladies serve several other people in the cafe and in the drive thru, I got back in line. When I got to the till the girl began asking me what I would like to order and then her voice trailed off and she stared at me. I asked her if she forgot to make my coffee (the order I had to repeat four times) and she just bent over to grab the coffee cup and nonchalantly said, "yeeeeeah... sorry."
After a few more minutes she announced my order and then she passed it to some other guy who was standing nearby. He asked her several times if it was a latte and the girl either didn't hear him or didn't understand because she just stared at him blankly. He eventually said, "I'll take it" and started to walk away when another lady behind the counter pointed at me and said, "that's his". I took my coffee back to my seat and fiddled with my laptop for several minutes. (The coffee tasted fine, if you're wondering)
After several minutes I was looking at the battery indicator icon on my laptop and realized that even though it was plugged in, it was not charging. I fiddled with my cord first in case it was my own fault, but then I tried plugging into the other plug. Still no power. So I moved to another seat and tried plugging into both power outlets there. Still no power. So I searched the cafe and could see only one other power outlet in the corner of the cafe where someone else was sitting. I did find power at this outlet.

Read moreI had one of the most disgusting thing happen to me at this 2nd cup location, 11128 142 st. This was around 6 pm on December 15th 2022. My sister and I entered the 2nd cup, ordered a smoothie drink, toasted cream cheese bagel and a small hot chocolate. I paid for the smoothie and bagel as a separate order from the hot chocolate because she wouldn't add them together for some reason. She finished the drinks first, then took the bagel out of the oven. Was spreading the cream cheese onto the bagel with a butter knife, dropped the knife onto the dirty floor , bent to pick it up, stayed bent for a bit and pretends to switch it out for a new one. Then pops back up and puts the dirty knife back into the cream cheese container. I asked her if that's the same knife she dropped on the ground she said yes. I said I didn't want that bagel, she then continued to spread the cheese on and brought it to the till. I told her that's very unsanitary and asked what made her use the same kife that was on the dirty floor.. She had a very dismissive tone and gave me a rehersed apology for trying to serve me a nasty floor made cream cheese bagel. She then said don't worry about it and then laughed. I left with my paid smoothly and threw it out a few blocks down. I am appalled that one of your employees thinks it's ok to not follow adequate hygiene protocols for food safety and handling. My question is what else does she do if she can freely do that infront of a paying customer. She told me her name was Sydney and the managers...
Read moreI'm assuming that this place is under new ownership. All of the previous staff that has been there for the few years that I've been going here are gone and it's affected the service drastically. I used to go multiple times a week, sometimes daily and now I've been hesitant to go. I'd be lucky if my order is right as I've never had a single correct order since the previous staff is no longer there. I keep getting asked to repeat my orders for things like "a large flavoured coffee with one cream" and then they get it wrong. I had ordered 5 drinks, very simple drip coffee drinks, and 2 of them were wrong. I kept giving them more chances because it should have just been learning curves but the same 2 people that have taken my orders have gotten them wrong over the last few months.
Today I had ordered a carafe of coffee and had to describe what it is because they wanted to give me a box of ground coffee. I then asked for a specific flavour and they said that would be ok but they charged me for an extra medium coffee. I let that slide because I wanted the coffee but this guy made sure that I won't be a returning customer. He then proceeded to ask if I wanted a different flavour after I had paid for everything but made the requested coffee anyways.
