OKO Bagels — Restaurant in Oakville

The staff are inexperienced in their ability to do simple transactions such as refunds, provide gift cards or properly treat customers.

They offer an early morning special where if you purchase a bagel sandwich before 9 am the brewed coffee is either free for the 12 oz or just 75 cents for the 16 oz. which comes out to around $5.

Yesterday I was mistakenly charged $7.87 which I didn't notice until I was in the act of tapping my credit card. The staff didn't know how to go about giving me my $3 refund and got very flustered when the customer behind me asked for a gift card which they didn't know how to do. So I asked that they just deduct it from my next order which they happily agreed to.

Today I came in at 8:30 am and the staff from yesterday remember me and explained to someone who appeared to be management what happened and told me that he will know how to take care of this. So he took my order and said "That will be $5.15". So I said to him that it should be under $3. He argued that it's normally $7.87 and he deducted the cost of the coffee so it's $5.15. I clearly explained that the morning special is $5.25 and if you deduct $3 it's just over $2.

He was clearly annoyed then put his hand up to "shush" me. He just silently tapped on his iPad then said $2.15 and turned around to clean his coffee machine.

He didn't apologize for making the mistake or explain that he will correct his mistake respectfully but instead he shushed me and didn't apologize at all for any of the inconvenience.

No person should be treated in such a manner especially after having been inconvenienced as a customer. I was annoyed by the first mistake by the inexperienced staff but mistakes happen. But it's completely unacceptable for management to treat customers in that way and without even an apology. I'll never go back to this place and definitely discouraging anyone from going, their bagels are average at...

So happy to have tried Oko Bagels. I recently moved to Oakville area and heard about their Montreal style bagels. I domt remember how Montreal angels taste like but these at OKO definitely were chewy, well seasoned and fresh!

Their bagels as mentioned are perfectly dense and can be enjoyed as is. They have a selection of sandwiches and cream cheese to pair their bagels and these produce are freshly made on the day!

Smoked Trout 4/5 - the trout provides a nice seafood taste of umami that pairs nicely with the sweetness of the jam. The arugula provides a peppery taste that compliments well with the sandwich.

Beef Smoked Meat 5/5 - very flavourful, while not fully loaded like your Montreal smoked meat sandwiches, the amount was enough. the caramelized onions were nice and sweet paids well with the mustard spice. Another one packed with balance and flavour

Fig Jam 5/5 - did not cheap out on goat vheese and jam. Enough to get both flavours but not overpowereding. Definitely an acquired taste given they use both goat cheese and agulua but honestly pairs so nicely. add it to a classic cinnamon raisin and it's a nice peppery and sweet treat!

Really like it here and can't wait to come back just for the bagels even.

Specializes in Montreal Style Bagel. A defining feature of a Montreal Style bagel is that it is always baked in a wood-fired oven. These bagels were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.

There are so many flavours to choose from Coconut, Cinnamon sugar, Whole wheat everything, Poppyseed, Chocolate chips, Blueberry, Rosemary and salt and many more . The blueberry is one of my favourite!

You can customize any of these bagels with their selection of flavoured cream cheese or with any of their sandwiches fillings.

Three sandwiches I got are:

TROUT- Smoked trout, honey mustard, arugula, black pepper. Was my favourite one! I love everything with honey mustard and it complimented the trout well, the onion bagel I chose was also very flavourful!

BEEF-Smoked Meat, Onion and Oro sauce. I chose Everything bagel. I really like smoked meat and everything bagel makes everything better!
