We were really looking forward to a great Iftar experience, but unfortunately, it was disappointing from start to finish. The staff seemed unwelcoming, uninterested, and never smiled. At Iftar time, our table was completely empty—no dates, no milk, nothing prepared. When I asked about it, the response felt dismissive and unprofessional. A staff member, who was handling the cash register, suddenly came over, touched the dates with her bare hands, and placed them on our table—no gloves, no hygiene, no apology, no thank you. 💧 Humiliating Service Over a Simple Bottle of Water We drove nearly two hours to get here, expecting a warm Iftar experience. At one point, I simply asked for a bottle of water—not expecting it to be free, just willing to pay for it. Instead of just handing it to me or informing me politely, the staff looked at each other as if I had asked for something strange. Then, in a rude tone, I was told, “That’s not included in the Iftar.” But who asked what’s included? I was willing to pay extra, and instead of a basic level of hospitality, I was made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. 💰 Overpriced for a Lack of Service For the amount we paid, we expected at least decent service. But throughout the experience, nobody checked on us, no one asked if we needed anything, and the overall attitude from staff was indifferent. 🍽️ Food & Experience: To be completely honest, the food wasn’t great, and the overall vibe was not what we expected. We ended up eating only half our meal before deciding to leave. 📌 A Message to the Owners: I truly hope the owners read this and take action. It’s not just about the food—it’s about how customers are treated. I encourage management to watch the cameras and see what’s happening in the restaurant. A simple “Do you need anything?” or a polite response can make a huge difference. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but the poor service, lack of hospitality, and overpriced experience left us disappointed. Hopefully, things change for the better. The receipt below shows the extra fees for the water that was paid and not included in the iftar!!!

I don’t know what the worst part was. The fact there was bugs in our drinks, the fact the food was served 45 minutes apart, or the fact my birthday cake was thrown out before we finished eating it! _____ This was a disaster. I invited my friends on my birthday to spend the day here and it was the most embarrassing experiences. My friends started cleaning up the table cause there wasnt enough staff to help. The food was cold, one girl ordered a watermelon salad and got literal watermelon slices and cheese on the side and was told to sort it out herself. My drink came after I finished my meal (a can of redbull). First half of my friends got their food the other half waited 45 minutes.. We walked in ordered food, 30 min later the waiter came to tell us he gave us the wrong menu and gave us a menu with half the options and everything 150% the price. Throwing out half my birthday cake without asking if we were done was the cherry on top. I almost cried. . They gave some of us a discount to mitigate the situation, and sat us in the patio for the last 10 minutes of their show (the staff was very polite and doing their best) but that simply was not enough. This was just a very sad experience for my birthday. Had big expectations and left embarrassed as hell. Do not recommend big groups to come here.

I had the chance to try this Middle East–Italian fusion restaurant for the first time, and it was quite an experience. While it is advertised as fusion, it is mainly Lebanese at its core. The moment you step in, you’ll notice that almost every table has a hookah without exception. Since we chose to sit outside, it didn’t bother me, but it’s something worth keeping in mind before you go. The décor and ambiance are absolutely beautiful, modern and clean. They had just introduced a new menu that blends Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors. In hindsight, I think I should have leaned more toward the Middle Eastern selections, but the chicken tagliatelle I ordered was still really good, with tender chicken and a sauce that balanced creaminess with just the right seasoning. I also had a chance to check out the palace side of the venue, and it’s stunning, definitely a space that could be considered for special events, gatherings, or even business meetings. Another plus is its location: right at one of the main intersections, making it very easy to get to. Overall, it’s a unique spot where Lebanese tradition meets Mediterranean and Italian touches, offering not just food but a full atmosphere.

Unfortunately this is my honest and disappointing experience with Jamil Fares Salameh (the owner and Samer Sbeetan his partner and accountant.

I worked with them, and since February I’ve been trying to get the rest of my payment. I kept following up, but they ignored me.

I called Samer — he pretended not to know anything. After I explained everything, he said he’d handle it… then disappeared. I kept calling the whole day until he finally answered, and told me “you’re only getting $850,” even though he knows I’m owed around $1500 or more not including tips.

When I insisted, he hung up on me. Then Jamil called me back threatening me, saying “let’s see what you’re going to do.”

I have screenshots and chats proving everything, but I won’t post them here to respect Google’s privacy policies.

They admitted they owe me money, but refused to pay the rest just because of my “attitude.” So I work, I sweat, and they keep the rest and threaten me?

I’m not the only one. Many others are owed money by them but are too scared to speak up.

We used to work at Opal Downtown, and they are going to sell it or sold it, Jamil and Samer disappeared without settling people’s wages. I want to add something important: several people reached out to me saying they went through the same thing. They have proof too, and they want to write reviews, but they’re afraid.

To those people: don’t be afraid. Speak up and write your story honestly. People in this country do not support corrupt businesses that steal from workers..

May God not forgive them. This is the least I can do — warn others. If you’re considering working with them, be very careful and document everything.

Horrible customer service. I’ve been to opal a few times and it just collectively gets worse every time. The most recent was this past weekend and I’m so embarrassed that I unfortunately recommended this place to my friends for a birthday party. I called to reserve on the patio. Simple, 8 people at 6:30, prime dinner time. I had to modify this reservation and there was a bit of a miscommunication on the timing so I literally spoke to whoever took the reso about 4 times on the phone. Not once did she think to mention that they wouldn’t be able to serve dinner till 8 pm. We only find out when we arrive the day of and their excuse is that the lounge is booked for a baptism and the banquet is booked for a wedding so the kitchen staff is too busy. Surely these events were not booked last minute…common courtesy would have been to let us know ahead of time that there would be no food available at 6:30. Anyway we waited and of course at 8 pm they tell us we can’t order still because the kitchen is still backed up. To make a long story short, we didn’t see any food till around 9:15 and that was after we told them to cancel our order since some of the guests had already left and we were beyond frustrated. The owner was there and aware of all this and not once did he come speak to us or try to fix the situation in any way. Everyone just kept saying the food is coming asap. We got to see everyone around us get their food and they’d arrived way after us and we were promised our food would be put in first. If I was the owner and something like this happened, I would offer some sort of incentive to help and fix the situation and make people want to come back and give me another shot. Offer water? Tea? Bread? lol nothing. They’re so cheap, and it’s not like their prices are reasonable; A can of coke is $5 btw. We understand that sometimes things happen that are out of your control but this was just bad planning with a greedy mindset. If you can’t handle three different events, close one of them or give people a proper heads up. I hate that I ruined my friend’s milestone birthday by suggesting we go here. Anyway please don’t reply to this with a generic message with your email address so I can email you and resolve the issue, cuz like I said, the owner was there and if he wanted to resolve this or help in any way, he should have done it when we were there. Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention, there were multiple people smoking cigarettes on the patio. Waiters and the manager were well aware and could see them. Last time I checked, that wasn’t allowed. Being around shisha smoke is normal and expected at a shisha place, but cigarette smoke and the stench that it comes with, that’s not...
