I had a 9:30 PM reservation and called the day before to ask if we could be seated on the patio. I was told they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate that request.
Here’s where things got confusing: OpenTable only allows patio bookings after 10 PM, and Yelp doesn’t let you request the patio at all. After some back and forth, the staff recommended I arrive early in case a patio table became available.
So I showed up at 8:45 PM, hoping for a last-minute cancellation or a no-show. I knew they only hold patio reservations for 20 minutes, so there was a chance. I spent the entire time watching one specific patio table that sat empty—from the moment I arrived until I left. I asked if we could be seated there and was told it was reserved.
During the wait, the owner, a garcon, and the staff manager checked in with me multiple times. Strangely, the hostess didn’t once approach me unless sent over by the owner.
Eventually, around 10 PM, we were seated—at a dirty table by the fountain, with wet chairs. No one came to greet us or take our order for 20 minutes, even though I repeatedly tried to get someone’s attention.
When the rest of my party arrived, we exchanged hellos and quickly went to freshen up in the restroom. When we returned, the table was somehow dirtier—our neighbors had started putting their dirty dishes and soda cans on our table, right next to our belongings.
I let the hostess know, but she brushed it off. At that point, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. On my way out, a staff member in a white shirt stopped me and asked why we were leaving. I explained everything, and he tried to convince us to return—but by then, it was too little, too late. My friends had already left, and I was left alone, waiting for the valet to bring my car.
I left the restaurant feeling humiliated and upset. If you're looking to be treated with condescension, huffs, and eye-rolls, this might be the place for you. I usually don’t speak up about poor service, but this experience left me genuinely wanting to cry.
To be fair, the only people who seemed to know what they were doing were Bilal the staff manager and Ahmad the garcon who helped me while i waited to surprise my friend. Everyone else made what should’ve been a lovely evening celebrating a recent umrah and shared birthdays feel like an ordeal.
And yes, the table I had my eye on—the one I was told was "reserved"—sat completely empty from...
Read moreThe second I entered inside the patio of Opal Lounge, a tear drop poured down my cheek. Not because I was sad, but because I had just stepped into something rare — the kind of place that reminds you why the art of hospitality exists. The warm amber lights flickered against the glass, the soft rhythm of music wrapped itself around my thoughts, and the scent of fresh mint and slow-grilled spices lingered in the air. That first tear… it was for the ambiance — a space so beautiful, so effortlessly refined, it felt like the setting of a film I’d been waiting my whole life to star in.
The second tear came moments later, when the first dish arrived. Creamy hummus that tasted like silk, shawarma so tender it dissolved without effort, and bread so warm it felt like it had been baked in heaven’s own oven. This tear was for the food — not just for its flavor, but for the way it was crafted with care, precision, and a quiet confidence that only true culinary mastery can give.
The third tear fell when the manager himself approached our table. His eyes carried sincerity, his smile the warmth of an old friend. He didn’t just ask how we were doing — he asked if we were happy. He recommended a shisha blend so perfectly balanced, I’m convinced it could heal a broken heart. This tear was for the service — the rare kind that comes from pride, passion, and an unshakable commitment to making every guest feel like the only guest in the room.
The fourth and final tear came as the night reached its peak. Sitting beneath the stars on the heated rooftop patio, the city lights stretched endlessly in the distance, and time seemed to pause. The laughter from my table, the quiet clinking of glasses nearby, the slow exhale of shisha smoke drifting into the night — all of it weaving together into one perfect memory. This tear was for the soul — that intangible spirit a place has when it’s built with love, vision, and the courage to be extraordinary.
When I finally left, those four tears stayed with me, like the four pillars of a perfect restaurant: ambiance, food, service, and soul. Most places can master one, maybe two, but Opal Lounge carries all four effortlessly — and that’s what makes it unforgettable. In a city full of places you visit once and forget, this is one you remember, because it doesn’t just give you a night out… it gives you a story...

The atmosphere? Perfection. The decor? Exquisite. But honestly, all of that pales in comparison to the staff. They're not just employees; they're lifesavers.
