My husband and I were at this restaurant last year for New Year’s Eve and we had a wonderful experience, which is why we decided to return this New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately this time was not a good experience. We had a waitress who was filling in last minute who had no idea about the menu items, although she was very nice and accommodating. We were quite surprised to be told at 7:15pm that they only had 10 oysters left, which we ordered, but several of them were quite small in size so not worth the price. I ordered the lobster linguine and returned it as the linguine was undercooked and chewy, while the lobster was overcooked and difficult to take out of the shell, causing it to break off in my food. The food was not very hot at all. We were sitting close to the kitchen and the chef gave me a dirty look after speaking to the waitress when she returned my dish. Instead of the kitchen being separated by a wall or door, it is quite visible to the patrons and they hit a bell for the servers as if we’re in a diner. The second plate of linguine she gave me was better, but again, the lobster was difficult to take out of the shell.
We ordered a bottle of wine and were told that they were out of that particular one, but were offered a bottle of Folonari for the same price of $70 (the waitress herself stated it shouldn’t be that price considering that it is a screw top, however, we were then told that would be the price so only one glass was ordered).
It would have been nice had there been some discount on our bill or maybe a free dessert, but that was not the case. I think the restaurant either has a new owner and/or chef. We will not...
Read moreI have quite a bit to say about this restaurant. I will start with the fact that I do not recommend this place at all. If you can’t perform your best on what is probably the busiest night of the year, you likely will not be better any other time. For a restaurant in downtown Oakville on New Year’s eve to be that short staffed and unorganized is very surprising. They had a total of 2 maybe 3 servers for the whole restaurant. And our server even stated she doesn’t work there she was filling in to help. Due to this fact, she knew nothing about the menu or restaurant which is not her fault but very odd that they didn’t properly staff. We then ordered a standard cocktail, the moscow mule and we were told that the bartender also doesn’t work there and was filling in and did not know how to make that drink. Mind you, the sign outside reads club and bar venue yet they didn’t know how to make this drink. We had also ordered a bottle of champagne at the start which took at minimum 20 minutes to reach our table and when it eventually arrived we were told “they finally found” the bottle. On to the food, the menu is quite expensive. This would be fine if the food was worth it, however the food was beyond mediocre. The presentation was off putting, it looks as if everything was thrown onto the plate with no thought. The 2 stars are merely for the great musicians playing live music. They were very sweet...
Read moreWent for a nice dinner on Saturday night! Ambiance was beautiful and the Jazz music made it even better. Service seemed slow which we did not mind and there were only two waitresses covering hostess, bar, bussing and serving. Couple parties walked in, sat and left due to the slow service. Ordered a bottle of wine with few apps- fresh oysters (very nice) but no cooking involved, burrata also nice but again not much cooking involved and mussels in Gorgonzola sauce (mediocre to say the least). Mussels had no flavour- seemed boiled and served with lots of the boiled water with slight Gorgonzola flavouring. Nothing else on them and absolutely no flavour. Entrees we had ordered sea bass, which was a small filet with no seasoning over a bed of beans in thick tomato sauce. Beans tasted like it just came from a can and extremely salty. Once we ended the dinner we mentioned to the waitress the food was very unpleasant. We were told the chef was not there and the sous-chef had prepared the food. We could not get out fast enough. Ended up going for dessert and coffee down the street. It was an expensive terrible food. As mentioned we could deal with the service being slow, but the food served in a “fine dining “ to this poor quality and preparation leaves a lot to desire. We will...
