The portions were fair but the service was so appalling I will never go back. I used a 3rd party app to try out their food and felt ridiculed and belittled in front of other customers. The older lady who served me caused my anxiety to be heightened when I didn't display my order to her the way she expected. As a new user of this app and not being familiar with it she really made the entire experience very very uncomfortable for me. In fact, she did it twice, making sure I didn't forget the embarrassment she just put me through before giving me my two orders. I purposely ordered two bags as I was coming from out of town to pick up the order and wanted to make it worthwhile. This experience truly wasn't pleasant and one I can't forget. In the moment she reminded me of whatever error I had supposedly made a second time, I no longer had the desire to even eat the food. In fact, all I simply wanted to do was crawl under a rock and ask for a refund. Her crass reminder started with "next time when you come..." In which the response in my head was "there will be no next time".
I was concerned that I was a little too sensitive to the situation but the two individuals who came into the store with me also felt that she was not speaking very kindly to me. I will also be mentioning what happened to the third party app as it is an experience I hope no one else goes through. I had purchased orders from 2 other places prior to this place and never had any issues. I even picked up an order later that evening at a different restaurant with no problems at all.
I gave the food items I purchased away as I no longer wanted to even eat the food I had purchased because of this entire situation.
I would rate the food 4/5 (on behalf of the people I gave my food away to) and customer service a 1/5. It's unfortunate because the atmosphere seemed really quaint...
Read moreWalking with my wife on Lakeshore Blvd., a scent of utter deliciousness wafted in front of us as we approached Farma. It was the perfect invitation to come in off the street and into the restaurant.
We were greeted by friendly servers and the smell of roasting lamb, in a restaurant setting that probably could have been transported out of a little Greek village. After walking around quaint grocery shop portion of the restaurant, my wife noticed the menu and we decided to to buy several phyllo pies to have for our supper as well as some baklava as a sweet treat. We selected all three savoury fillings available and for the portions sold, the price was very reasonable.
At home we heated up the phyllo pies in the oven and had them for dinner. They were all so tasty and satisfying. The Spanakopita was authentic in flavour to what really good Greek Spanakopita should taste like. The spinach mixture was seasoned perfectly and the phyllo pastry light and crispy. The Prassopita filling (leek and cheese) had a nice subtle flavour and not as strong as the Spanokopita. And lastly, the cheese filling in the Tiropita was smooth in texture and not heavy.
However, as good as all three phyllo pies were, the star of the show was the Baklava. Apart from being fresh and flaky, it tasted like the greatest version of a fresh Krispy Kreme glazed donut. We could taste the honey and the chopped nuts in the filling but that is the only way I can describe such an amazing pastry.
The amazing smells and the friendly staff, the wonderful food and the quaint atmosphere of the restaurant will make us come back again. I would highly recommend visiting Farma for some amazing food and great service. You will not be...
Read moreIf you're looking for authentic Greek specialties, you came to the review. As you can see from the 4 star + rating, this establishment is highly touted in the Oakville community. For dessert, I passed by Farma, which is right next door to Kibo restaurant. The bougatsa, which I never heard about prior to my visit, was eyeing me in the display case. I ordered a $5 large, which was a generous portion of the delicious pastry. The easiest way to describe the delectable dessert is a crispy phyllo pastry (similar to baklava) with a silky smooth custard inside. Before closing the box, I was asked whether I wanted a drizzle of syrup and a dusting of cinnamon and icing sugar. Obviously I said yes, and this augmented the flavour profile of the already delicious pastry. I would highly recommend Farma Greek Market for its quality and reasonably priced goods. I only tried the bougatsa, but I will be back again to sample their...
