We were a party of 5. Once we entered ten restaurant, one of the staff showed us a table of 6, which was neatly arranged. Once we settled, I noticed a pungent smell and realized they placed their cleaning cart right beside that table on the other side of partition. Though we left a seat close to that cart, it didn’t help much. We asked to be reseated and got into a booth. One of the staff approached us for the order and we were struggling to hear each other due to loud music though it is pleasant. We placed the order and am happy to say we did not have to wait too long to get the food. We all loved the food. We ordered another Pani Puri for my 7 yr old son and asked if they can add a little red onion in the puri. Staff came back and said they would charge 1$ extra for onions. This is when I was quite taken aback and wondered how much would a spoonful of diced red onion cost, what would cost of labour to chop those, what would be the profit margin. Interestingly, I noticed that this management is being very upfront about extra cost on any extra condiments you ask for during the meal such as chutneys, sambar, etc. While this makes sense to an extent, price should be reasonable, definitely not a dollar for a spoonful of diced onion. Not sure how legal it is to print that prices on the menu might be changed without notice. I would hope that the price is manually or digitally updated when they knew that price needs to be changed. Or, put some effort into training the staff to proactively telling the customer that the price was not the one on the menu.
Though the food was great, we left with distaste and not really wanting to go back another day. It felt like this management is so cut-throat on profit margins, more than acting based on circumstances. Though staff were generally ok, couldn’t take the rating up based on what I...
Read moreRuined Father's Day Lunch, I love and support local business but this one deserve none of it. I wish I could give this establishment ZERO rating unfortunately that option is not available. We went for a lunch on Father's Day which was special for us as my FIL as visiting us, on recommendation of a friend. We were assigned seats after 10 mints wait and nightmare began after that Staff cleaned the table and confirmed twice that we were party of 5 and for some good reason decided to place only 4 mats( See Pic) and NOTHING ELSE not even water and staff was gone. No menu given, there was an option of scan it n see online which was difficult for my kids and 80 yrs old FIL. after sitting 20 mints sitting there somehow I was manage to get attention of a staff to take our order. she took order n was gone again. after 15 mints she came with a starter WITHOUT any cutlery , water, glass , tissues anything ( see pic ) n placed it n gone again. My little one was starving and started to take bites like that only while I was trying to get someone to give basic things. She brought water , food , glass etc in installments as we had to return spoon which was dirty ( see Pic) and gone again. We were ignored to the point my daughter had to get up n get herself a spoon. They were themself were aware of their horrible service and offered 1 free sambhar refill when we paid our bill + 15 % tip as courtesy as no one can be as rude as them. oh Ya the seat assigned to us were near toilet n had awful smell. They asked suggestions on their placemats , so here it is " IF YOU CANT PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE PLZ DONT LET CUSTOMER COME, NO ONE MONEY AND TIME TO WASTE "
I wont ever GO there and wont...
Read moreThe "hell yeah" part - Highly recommend for 10/10 food, quite authentic and I sincerely hope the quality sustains. I had the SI meals, the quantity was just right, the variety interesting and taste was as close to home as possible. The Kara Kozhambu - will go back just for this, yeah! Now for the "Meh!" Parts - we had the misfortune of sitting in a corner behind the sort of curtain, like obscure, and you would wonder why one would even put a table there. But it's a booth , seats 4; 6 in a squeeze, so obviously the assumption is that you will get served. Someone showed up promptly even before our butts had warmed the sofa by even a degree. Fair. So we said we need a minute, which the staff interpreted as 20. Then another 30 minute wait for a meal and a plate of Parota/Salna. And 3 other tables with 2+ people were already being served their order. Please give the staff washed uniforms and spare shirts on hot days. I get it the weather is hot, the kitchen is hot, and the staff work hard, but holding your breath every time they come to the table for service is not fun or even walk by. That's not on the staff, so management please do your bit. And the final sticking point...I seemed to have gone into a Punjabi restaurant. A little over an hour, only Punjabi music. I don't have anything against Punjabi music, but for a Chennaite owned "South Indian" restaurant, think the Spotify account is shared with Punjabi by Nature up the road. Would love to go to a Punjabi restaurant playing South Indian music. Alas!!! 5 Star if not...
