Oakville Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Oakville

My wife and myself decided to try the king fish Friday special but unfortunately we were very much disappointed.

Firstly, it appears the management team way underestimated the amount of take out orders combined with the amount of dine in orders due to the advertisement. We waited not less than 45 minutes from the time we ordered our food and it arriving on our table. We were both very hungry knowing that we planned on having dinner at the restaurant.

Secondly, once we began eating our meals we quickly realized that the crispy king fish and grilled king fish were not properly prepared and marinated for the necessary length of time for it to taste in the way we were accustomed to having it in our Caribbean background.

Lastly, when we were asked by the manager how we were enjoying our meal, we had to be open and honest and mentioned to her how dissatisfied we were about our meals. She did admit that the fish was not properly marinated and prepared and that they did not have time to prepare the fish beforehand due to the overwhelming public response.

The management did have the opportunity to advise anyone ordering the fish that it was not properly prepared/marinated hence misrepresenting Oakville Fish and Chips level of quality and expectation. This was not done, if so we would have made a different choice. I hoping this review will make a difference to the management team and their way of addressing this matter...

We were just delighted to find this place!!! The food quality at so many eating places often disappoints, but not here. The owner, Felicia, told us that it's a family-owned restaurant. She waited on the tables. Felicia's is fun, gracious, warm and attentive.

The food? Delicious. We both had haddock and it was fresh and tasty with just the right coating. The fries were perfect - hot, crisp on the outside, soft in the centre. Made from freshly cut potatoes. No fancy coating or spices. Just made the old-fashioned way and you just knew the cooking fat was fresh. Good coffee.

You can do take-out or eat in. There are about 7 tables. The tables aren't crowded. It's a sparkling clean place, with a nice contemporary design, low-key decor. And it was not chilly in spite of the weather. Immaculate bathroom. Parking is easy.

We will return again and again even though we live in Burlington!

I had the cod fish and chips dinner. Service: Fast and friendly. Atmosphere: Nothing special, but nice. Fish: Excellent. Great batter, firm and flavourful filet. Perfectly cooked. Delicious! Coleslaw: Very nice balance between sweet and tangy. Good stuff. Chips: This is where they need to up their game. To me, the chips part of F&C is just as important as the fish, and these are rather dry and bland. They remind me of generic frozen oven fries. A different supplier/source might do the trick, as I see nothing wrong with the way they are deep fried. With some great chips this restaurant could easily get at least 4 Stars and maybe even 5 Stars. Conclusion: Great fish. Chips need improvement. I'll be back...
