To be clear, this review is for Arcata's Keto pizza not their regular wheat flour crust pizza. It has been years actually since we've ordered their regular crust pizza but we were never fans of that pizza either. There are a number of very good pizza restaurants in Windsor and each has its own style and flavor. Everyone I've ever spoken to seems to have their own favorite and often our favorite (which is Armandos) is at or at least near the top of everyone's list. In this case I am reviewing their Keto pizza and yes I know that Keto anything isn't going to be anywhere near as good as good as anything non-Keto but this was truly horrible. When we called to ask for an opinion on it the person that answered said she had never tried it which should have been our first clue. The short story is that they charged us an extra $7 for the Keto version of their pizza (which in retrospect is criminal) but quite honestly it was the worst pizza I've ever had. I've literally had $5 frozen pizzas that were better than this. We picked up the pizza exactly when they told us to, in 20 minutes (which is another red flag) and we live 5 minutes away but when we got the pizza home was not quite lukewarm. The crust, which we were told is made of almond flour crumbled in pieces when you picked it up. The crust was about a 1/4" thick so just like one of those cheap frozen pizzas you would buy at Zehrs. Actually the Zehrs pizza would have more flavour though. I know that anyone reading this will say that perhaps our expectations for a Keto pizza were too high but if a restaurant is going to promote or sell anything I would expect that it would be tried and tested before they sell it and if it didn't meet their expectations they would not sell it. To me there is no way that they did that because this product is horrible. We ordered this at dinner time on a Saturday night so again the fact that we were able to pick this up in 20 minutes says a lot. If you were to call Armandos on a Saturday at dinner you would expect to wait at least an hour because they are so busy. Unfortunately this will be our last time ever buying anything...
Read moreMy coworkers have been telling me that Arcata’s pizza in Windsor ACTUALLY has the best pizza in CANADA!!! So we had to stop by and try it after coming back from a 3.5 hour drive from the GTA!
They had an extensive list of options, even including pasta, chicken parm, and chicken fingers, but we came only for the pizza!
My friends and I are vegetarian, so I expected to see just a list of random vegetables, and then you create your own pizza, but Arcata’s ACTUALLY had specially curated vegetarian pizzas! A Greek Style pizza, a regular veg pizza with many toppings, and the Don’s pizza??? That one had sun dried tomatoes (my favourite), goat cheese, and ROSEMARY! I’ve never had rosemary on pizza, so we tried it! We also got their house made garlic dip (absolutely amazing), plus 3 Arizona’s! And the man was nice enough to recommend me a delicious flavour (Red Apple Green Tea with Ginseng)!
The pizza took about 15-20 minutes! Worth the wait for a large, and 3 drinks! Came up to $40. It’s was so hot and fresh. The sauce burned my tongue, that’s how hot it was (but that’s exactly what I needed)! The crust was thin, beautifully crispy on the bottom, the pizza’s topping marries each other so beautifully! If you’ve never tried Arcata’s, you need to go today! There was just the right amount of cheese and toppings and sauce! The perfect balance! The workers were all very nice and helpful as well! 12/10...
Read moreI recently visited Arcata Pizza on Dougal, and I must say, I was impressed with the overall experience.
Firstly, the restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere and the aroma of freshly baked pizzas wafting through the air only added to the ambiance. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and their service was prompt and efficient.
Now, coming to the pizza itself, it was simply delicious! The crust was thin and crispy, with just the right amount of chewiness, and the sauce had a rich, tomatoey flavor that blended perfectly with the toppings. I ordered the classic pepperoni pizza, and the pepperoni was generously scattered all over the pizza, cooked to a crispy perfection.
In addition to their classic pizzas, they also had a variety of gourmet options, which I found to be unique and flavorful. I particularly enjoyed the BBQ chicken pizza, which had a tangy BBQ sauce, tender chicken pieces, and a perfect blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
Overall, I would highly recommend Arcata's to anyone who's looking for a delicious pizza experience. With their cozy ambiance, friendly service, and mouth-watering pizzas, it's definitely...
