I need to preface this review by saying that I am never one to leave negative reviews. I would much rather attract people to a business than repel them from it. However, after my experience at Taystee Grill, and the response from the staff towards this experience, I felt compelled to write this.
I am a server/bartender at a dinner restaurant. I am a manager at a diner. One thing I absolutely live by in this industry is: “the customer is always right.” Even when they may have it all wrong, they are STILL right because business is business. We want to bring them back and hope that next time we get it right.
My family and I went into Taystee tonight. I want to note that we own a restaurant and my dad has been in the industry for 40 years now. He’s spent decades running a grill. We ordered 4 burgers and a chicken wrap. The gentlemen that took the order was pleasant initially. We sat and he brought us water.
Shortly after, the food came out. My mom was the first to take a bite and noticed immediately that the meat was not hot. I took a bite of the chicken sandwich and noticed it was steaming hot. My mom went to the gentleman at the register and just calmly told him that the patties in the burgers weren’t hot, and he rebuttled immediately and said that they were plated and served right off the grill. My brother, who is literally a culinary student in college, also realized that the bacon was cold. Once I touched it myself, I realized it felt like it came out of a fridge and not off the grill.
This was the part that irritated me. After he rebuttled, my mom just shrugged her shoulders and walked away and he shook his head, had a facial expression, and did a hand gesture as if her comment was stupid.
He then came to the table to make the same comment he just made. He didn’t offer her a sandwich or something to make up for it, he just kept insisting that it was right off the grill. Push your ego aside.
and AFTER my mom walked out when we were finished, he repeated himself AGAIN to my brother and said “she ate half of it” … no she didn’t. That was a complete lie. She had a single bite and would not eat the rest. I don’t know if he has ego issues or just vision issues.
Right off the grill or not, the customer was not satisfied with the product she received. What really happened does not matter, what matters is there is a customer who took one bite of her food and will not finish it because of the temperature of the meat. THIS is how a good business and properly trained staff needs to assess a situation like this.
Again, as a family with many accumulated years of experience in every aspect of this industry, this situation was so poorly handled. This is the exact opposite of how you get people to come back.
A simple apology, some accountability, and perhaps the chance to make it right could have had us back there every time we were in the city. In addition, we would’ve recommended hundreds of people to this place.
I will not be back. If you’re going to leave a response full of ego, forget about responding because my 100+ reviews show that I do not complain unless it is warranted.
I noticed that you tend to dismiss every single 1-star review and say “this is not true” to EVERYTHING. Or calling people liars? Everyone around you must be lying then - how pathetic can you be?
This is a prime example of how a $15 burger can and will cost you a lot...
Read moreAfter washing my hands, I spilled some water in the restroom. As I was leaving, the owner haisam, came outside and aggressively confronted me, demanding I come back inside to clean it. I stayed calm, told him that wasn’t my responsibility as a customer to clean his washroom, and even asked him not to raise his voice.
Instead of backing off, he snapped, screaming at me, calling me disgusting names, and insulted my parents and the way I was raised. He then followed me to my car, continued shouting in public, took a photo of my license plate, and threatened to call the police, all over a small, harmless spill of water.
I’ll admit, after he verbally attacked me and disrespected my family, I did say some things back in my own defense. But I only spoke up after being humiliated and harassed in public. No one should be expected to stay silent when someone crosses that line.
This was completely unprovoked and unprofessional behavior from a business owner. I left feeling shocked, disrespected, and unsafe.
I strongly urge others to stay away from this restaurant, and from the owner in particular. No customer deserves this kind of treatment.

The amount of water I spilled was so little I didn’t even realize there was water on the floor, and after I told you I wouldn’t clean it, as it is not my job, you started becoming aggressive and I told you TWICE not to raise your voice at me, and after you started saying horrible stuff about me and my parents which I told you after don’t talk about my parents, Im not the type to start an argument, but don’t expect me to stay silent after speaking to me like that, it’s very childish of you speaking like that to a MINOR over spilled water, do you really not have anything else to do in your lousy,...
Read moreWorst food experience ever. Ordered 4 burgers some were combos and they were all cold. Brought it to the server or manager attention but denied what I am saying, he was rude and gave me a dirty look.my husband and children seen him and were not impressed. Maybe next time serve your food hot and fresh. Will never return and won’t recommend it to anyone. Learn customer service because you scored zero in our opinion. It was a mistake visiting you for the first time and a waste of money.

No I didn’t have half of it and came to complain I had one bite and felt the patty around like the rest of us checked theirs and it wasn’t hot. It took a bit to come talk to you cz I kept looking and u were talking to someone I didn’t want to emabarass you.i have respect 👍 My son who was hungry ate the half I took a bite of and took the rest home along with the other left over burgers right to the garbage.he said it’s wonderful cz he didn’t want to embarrass you, actually he kept saying sorry to all of us for taking us there.and he called his friend and told him about this bad experience. I have an advice for you, go learn about cooking, hot and cold. No we are not looking for free food or money back nor I want to ever step a foot in that place.
But mostly go learn how to talk to people that will do you well because you literally have no idea what you are doing and have no respect for anyone by the look of it Stop lying and making...
