Have lived in Windsor for over 7 years, and this is one of the few times I have ever had such a disrespectful service at a restaurant. My fiancé and I came here believing it was a hidden gem spot, as I had never heard of it before. It turns out there’s a reason why no one talks about it. The service is abysmal.
I am not one to throw this accusation around easily, but I have reason to believe that we were not provided with the same service as everyone else because we simply did not fit the “accepted” demographic: middle aged, white people.
It’s not even just about the service. As someone who has grown up in Italy, I was appalled at the dishes presented in front of me. They gave free bread that seemed to have been just pulled out of the packaging, cold with the crust barely toasted and some oregano sprinkled on it. Absolutely no taste, but whatever - it is “free”. The fettuccine, however? First of all, not even spelt right on the website. That should’ve been a warning sign, but alas. For a restaurant that clearly caters to white people, how do you fail to serve a decent pasta dish? You surely took your time, avoiding eye contact and steering clear from us every time we looked for our food like we were untouchables or something. Is it because we said we were in a rush? So you decided to just make us wait in case we would leave on our accord? Lol.
Not to mention the fact that when my fiancé said that he’s ready to pay to more than one server once he was handed the receipt, you walked past him numerous times with the machine in your hands. Mind you, you weren’t busy. You were all just standing behind the bar counter. It got to the point where I suggested just walking up to them and getting the hell out.
Also the snark with which “Enjoy your leftovers” was said? Not appreciated. Hard to enjoy something given with such spite and such little flavour.
This place is suffocating and honestly I do not recommend it unless you believe you’ll be deemed worthy of their time and service. Even with that, good luck eating bland food sprinkled with plenty of arugula to make them feel better...
Read moreThis isn't easy to do because we REALLY wanted to love this experience but it wasn't perfect and it really should have been. Dinner service, 6pm Saturday 5th February 2022. Pre-drink cocktails: G&T was okay BUT Old Fashioned was not at all good. Watery, simple syrup was missing, no zest and no orange peel to flavour. Honestly one of the worst I've tasted. Appetizer: An hour to get an app out is pushing what I think is acceptable. Bruschetta was again ok (but far too much) but Octopus was drowning in sauce and was overpowered by too much seasoning which masked any other flavour. Protein: Cod and Lamb ordered. Both courses again drowned in sauce and flavours of both overpowered by whatever was in the sauce. When you look at the dish and it's ALL sauce it's quite off-putting. I would have liked to have tasted the orzo and not had orzo soup with the lamb. No dessert menu, no coffee's or espresso offered. The service was okay BUT again, for the money should have been more attentive and followed correct service protocols for dinning. Maybe I'm now nit-picking but at nearly $300 (with wine and tip) for two people it should be a perfect experience to want me to come back for...
Read moreListen if you are ever in Windsor this is the place to be. As soon as we stepped in we felt welcomed with the greeting of our new favourite waiter Jeff. The ambience was perfect, lighting was just right not too dark, aesthetics was a flavored rustic elegance with a splash of class. The food… wow. We were given bread to start which was on the house. Started with the bruschetta for app, best bruschetta we’ve ever had. As for main, thanks to some locals, my wife and I got the featured special of the lamb chop, with orzo, green beans, roasted pepper and a side of shrimp 100/10. We had to try another dish, so we tried the tenderloin with gnocchi, roasted red pepper, arugula and crispy onion, wow another 100/10. I also ordered the old fashioned here, again the best old fashioned I’ve ever had here, made with Wisers… The service is what tipped the iceberg for us, making it arguably one of the best restaurants I’ve been too. Jeff made us feel Royal, and the owner Michael Anthony was in the back cooking, felt the passion and love he and his team had for culinary. This restaurant in my personal opinion deserves a Michelin rating....
