We went in an effort to support small businesses. However the place smelled of sewage. So that was a turn off, but more for my husband. I ordered the combo loco. The flauta was awesome, and so was the beef taco (very tender and juicy). But the chicken taco was dry, and chicken chimichanga also was dry, but it was not deep fried which surprised me? I thought they usually were? So that was disappointing. But maybe they traditionally are not, and we just know the Canadian versions? Either way, it was basically just a chicken and cheese wrap. I did very much like the enyucadito (yuka fries). Try them if you can! My husband just ordered 2 papusas (bothered by sewage smell), one cheese, one cheese and pork, which we both agreed were excellent! I also ordered a side of guacamole because I enjoy guac on all things, but it was just so so. Finally, I ordered a margarita while we waited, and it was legit! Very fresh, not to sweet or syrupy, just perfect really! All and all, place was decent, the smell definitely affected things, but I would eat there again in a pinch. My final comment: the packaging was all Styrofoam, which can make crispy food soggy, and also is bad for the environment. Cardboard should be considered by...
Read moreWe got to this filthy and uncomfortable place and I greeted the waitress in Spanish, which was her native language and I am fluent too. Obviously, I'm aware that I'm going to a Latin American restaurant. So, I am Not arguing the language at all...
The main issue here is the Service. The waitress was Not welcoming or courteous at all. We sat there for about 15-20 minutes, Not even received a simple HELLO, how are you?
I know that the restaurant was packed and there was only one Waitress, but at least she could say hello and welcome "give me a few minutes and I'll be right back with you."
In any case, I didn't like the reception at all. We took off RIGHT in-front of the waitress.... She didn't even try to stop us in our way out.... or ask how she could fix any WRONG doing.... terribly dumb.
Very unpleasant experience. How they can work or run a freaking restaurant with such primitive attitude in their own LIFE. .... was waste of...
Read moreHad an amazing meal at Casa Blanca and finally got to try some real authentic Mexican and Nicaraguan food. The ambiance of the place and the flavors definitely made it a worthwhile experience.
We took our server's suggestion and ordered the Beef Birria Tacos. They were deliciously packed with tender beef and a savory consommé for dipping. The flavors were rich and satisfying, a perfect choice for taco lovers. Fritanga Managua a delightful Nicaraguan dish featuring tender charbrolled steak, flavourful sausage, both green and ripe plantains, and grilled pork. Accompanied by a generous portion of rice and beans, this dish was a hearty and flavorful adventure. The mix of textures and flavors on this plate was spot-on, making it a standout!
Overall, Casa Blanca on Dundas Street has been a staple for a long time, and this visit confirmed its reputation. We'll definitely be going...
