Chance Coffee is this great little neighbourhood roastery and coffee shop on Drouillard at Whelpton.

The atmosphere is great with a nice clean aesthetic without feeling sterile with its interesting decor, plants, and functional seating areas which range from single seating areas, seating for two, small groups and a nice big live-edge type of wooden table suitable for a group of 8 or so. The indie music typically playing lends an upbeat and positive vibe to the experience.

The lovely staff make the visit personal with their warm and friendly service.

I’m not a huge coffee drinker these days but enjoy sitting in-shop to work with a London Fog on my remote work days. The space is great for studying & getting work done with wifi availability.

My only complaint - and what prevents me from giving 5 stars - is the pastry. While tasty, 2 of the 3 times I’ve bought pastries they were definitely day-old. Once I did ask and was advised that they were “yesterday’s” and today I could definitely notice my Nutella roll was not very fresh. The price ought to be reduced and/ or the staff should let you know that it’s from yesterday’s delivery without having to ask. I didn’t pay attention to how much I paid for my pastries but tbh I’m sure it was too much for day old pastries. Exceptional drinks!!! Very welcoming staff.

The coffee shop gets 11 lattes out of 10 ☕️!!!! That’s how good this place is. I only ever grab the latte’s here and their drinks are literally made with love.

Can it get any better than this?! Well yes, the more you sip the better it gets in my opinion

The atmosphere has a rustic yet modern feel to it. All beans are roasted in house on Monday’s so it does get noisy due to the state of the art giant coffee roaster oven. If you’re looking for quiet then I recommend any other day. If you’re looking for a lively noisy visit than I highly recommend Monday’s.

Excellent coffee and knowledgable baristas. Iron kettle delivers their 🥐here and those are some of best baked goods in essex county

Update 1: on my self-initiated assignment to compare PSL 🎃🍂 across the city, this one reigns supreme. McD’s was the worse, Starbucks was ok, Kava had a solid one, but Chance has it won.

Update 2: holiday drink 2023…spiced-orange mocha. This is the BEST holiday drink by far. The other options out there by the chains are just so sugary that you cannot taste the coffee. This one is different, subtle and tasty flavours that enhance the great coffee.
