Unfortunately, today I had the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my recent memory.
Several unlucky things happened that normally wouldn't have been a very big deal, but were handled, or rather weren't handled in a very unprofessional way by our waitress.
My mother's salad was missing a couple ingredients. Mistakenly, I also complained that my salad was missing ingredients, without carefully reading the list before I ordered it. I admit I should have not made that assumption, I was underwhelmed by the "Chef's salad" which was a basic garden salad with sprouts which is what led me to that assumption.
Despite my mistake, I assured the waitress I did not expect them to replace the salad as I already ate it.
That should have ended the matter, but instead of apologizing that my mother's salad was incomplete, shockingly, our waitress went out of her way to interrupt our meal by bringing back my menu, shoving it in my face in order to prove to me that there was nothing wrong with my salad. She asked me "please identify the missing ingredients' to which I foolishly replied "I don't know" because I was in such disbelief that she went out of her way to embarrass me in front of my parents.
Obviously that was extremely unprofessional of our server, and made me so sick to my stomach I lost my appetite and took my food with me, which is a shame because the entrée was actually delicious!
I'm not sure what we did you deserve this sort of treatment and I would be interested to know the servers excuse for giving us extremely poor customer service. I don't think the staff at McDonald's would get away with treating their customers like this...the fact that it happened at such a nice restaurant is astounding.
We were the first to arrive at opening (12pm) and the restaurant was not busy initially so I'm unsure as to why we received so little attention from our server. Even in the beginning she made no attempt to make small talk or say anything, just set or food down and ran off before we had a chance to request anything else.
I hope someone in charge who cares about the reputation of this restaurant addresses this in some way, but honestly if the servers can get away with treating people like that, I feel it is unlikely that management is often present.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the elderly gentlemen next to us decided to sneeze in our direction. And of course it wasn't just your run of the mill sneeze, I literally saw fluid come flying out of his nose, that hit our table and splattered onto the floor. It was absolutely disgusting. We never mentioned to him, as we had the common courtesy not to embarrass him, but my mother did ask the waitress to replace her carrot cake muffin, as she did not want to consume fluid from a stranger's sinus cavity.
Obviously the restaurant was not to blame for this devastating sneeze. However, if I was the server, I would have at the very least offered us to move tables, and cleaned up the visible splattered fluid on the floor next to us.
Not only did she not offer to move us, she simply took the carrot cake without saying a word. She completely brushed off the incident, as if we were lying or she just didn't care. When she came back my mother informed her that the fluid from this man's nose was all over the flood, not to complain, but to provide them with the opportunity to clean it up before someone else sees it as a courtesy.
I drove an hour and a half to meet my parents for dinner. So...
Read moreWhen a delightful surprise. We were just going through town on our way to Brantford. We've never stopped in this town before I found the reviews online and saw that they make everything homemade, even the ketchup. So we stopped. And we loved it. I had the pickerel which was delicious and explosion of flavors. My husband had the perch and he was delighted. We had dessert and enjoyed that homemade creation as well. The coffee is made with fresh grounds. The ambiance is really warm and inviting. And the service was terrific. And to top it off the bathrooms or gorgeous. It was easy to park on the street. And the price is really good with wine and two entrees and dessert. It came out too $100. I would highly recommend this place. It is so fun to discover little gems and smaller towns. We were absolutely delighted with a whole experience. We would definitely come back just to eat there again. I would highly recommend reservations for the weekends. We noticed that perhaps it may be limited seating. It is not a huge place. Which is what we like because it makes it intimate and...
Read moreI called on Sunday to make a reservation for Valentines Day. We showed up for our reservation sat down to look at a menu and they had a special menu for Valentines Day that had only one gluten free option for me I specifically made a reservation for this restaurant because they usually have lots of gf choices. It took them a long time for our server to get to us before I could even ask about the menu. They were not willing to offer anything other than what was on the menu, so it was either eat the one thing gf that I didn't like or leave. So we left. They should have explained to us when I called to make the reservations that there would be a limited menu that did not offer gf and I would have made reservations elsewhere. Because they did not disclose this at that time our specially planned evening was ruined. It was impossible to go anywhere else without a reservation. We went from expecting a lovely meal at a nice restaurant to a trip to the grocery store instead. It was 8pm by the time I sat down to eat. This experience has a left me feeling bitter about ever going...
