Strong Hospitality, but Coffee Authenticity Falls Short

We visited Golden Royal Cafe for an afternoon Turkish coffee while in London. Since we’re not local, we searched specifically for a place that served authentic Turkish coffee—and this spot came up.

The place itself is quiet and pleasant, and we were a group of four, all ordering Turkish coffee. However, what we were served turned out to be Arabic coffee with cardamom. As people who regularly drink Turkish coffee at home, we noticed the difference right away. Cardamom is not typically used in Turkish coffee, so it would have been helpful if the menu had mentioned this distinction. It felt misleading.

Also worth mentioning—the price. At $7.49 per cup, it was the most expensive “Turkish” coffee I’ve had, from Istanbul to Toronto.

We also ordered the mini pancakes (12 pieces) with the suggested sauce. We were told they would take 10–15 minutes, but they arrived after about 30 minutes. Despite the delay, the server was kind, sincerely apologetic, and generously brought us 20 pancakes instead of 12 to make up for the wait—which we really appreciated.

Overall, I’m giving 4 stars mainly because of the excellent service. However, a clearer description of the coffee on the menu would have made a big difference to...

Shocked... The worest place we visit in London.

We arrived around 10:35 PM, the menue is very limited to fast food. When we ordered, the waiter (very nice) take our order and came back saying no more of the plate we order. We changed to somthing else. Few minutes after, the water says that they are out of that plate also. We wasn't happy, but accept what food is available. I ordered a soft drink, then nothing showed up, We asked another waiter to bring what we ordered, he came back with different drinks that not our choice. Some person seems like a supervisor came and asked us why we are disappointed, we explained with honest our experience. His answer was it is too late to order, we mentioned to him that we were at the place around 10:40 and you are closing at 2:00AM. He was not polite with his answer and showes attitude knowing that I was with my wife and I respect my company not to argue.

The nice waiter came with dessert plate and apologized. We just payed for what we had and left.

I will not recommend this place, it is NOT the place to suspect a good service with good food I wish if I could rate no stars at all ( the only exception is the first nice waiter) I wish to hear back from the owner if he cares about...

Golden Royal Café – A 10-Star Experience!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I absolutely would! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was nothing short of amazing—relaxing, welcoming, and the perfect spot to unwind.

The service? Unmatched. The staff went above and beyond, making us feel like VIPs from start to finish. I’ve been to a lot of places, but I’ve never had service this good anywhere. They truly care about their guests, and it shows in every little detail.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The shawarma was next-level—perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, packed with flavor in every bite. It was easily the best I’ve ever had. We also had black cherry and raspberry milkshakes, and they were pure perfection—thick, creamy, and bursting with real flavor.

To top it all off, we enjoyed a hookah, and it was the perfect way to end the night. Smooth, flavorful, and just added to the whole experience.
