Growing up in Nova Scotia and being VERY familiar with donair meat. I have traveled all over Canada and have come across different types of what I call Donair meat. I always buy the meat, I dont like sauces in any way shape or form. So when I taste your Donair meat, I taste the meat, and the combination of spices. I used to drive 45 min outside of Kingston to get donair meat. However, that has changed after my recent taste test of donair meat at the House of Donair on Bath road. Is it exactly like NS donair meat ? No, but im telling you, this donair meat is in the top 5 donair meat I have EVER tasted. So I purchased $20.00 of meat after the awesome staff member sliced me off a piece for sample. Im literally hooked. I spoke with the owner and he said he was getting goosebumps with excitement over my claim. Guys up front were so welcoming and grateful for my business. 5 Gold stars for Gold donair...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at House of Donair. I went to pick up an order and had to wait for about 15 minutes, during which I observed some deeply concerning hygiene practices. Two staff members were using the same gloves for everything—handling food, rolling up a dirty carpet, sweeping the floor, and wiping tables.
The most alarming part was when one of the workers (a bald man with an arrogant attitude) began cleaning their cooking flame using soap and degreaser—without changing his gloves afterward. He went right back to handling food with those same contaminated gloves.
This kind of cross-contamination is a serious health risk. Cleanliness should be a top priority at any food establishment, and based on what I saw, I would never eat here or recommend it to anyone. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if people end up with food poisoning. This place needs a...
Read moreYou need to know, especially if you have a medical condition or having treatments that certain foods/spices can have an effect on, that the donair meat is spicey hot. I cant do any heat, and was unaware of this upon ordering. When i called to ask what spice, they were unable to tell me, and kept telling me 'the owner" "the owner" this was one of my first meals and something I've had a craving for and was actually looking forward to eating for over a month. Not only could I not eat it, it made me lose my appetite. A real donair, is not heaty.
Side bar less dangerous complaints. The hummus, was watered down and I tasted no garlic and the sweet sauce, although was tasty, it too was watered down. I can actually understand why, the operating costs are insane for small businesses. But, even jarlic could pump up that flavor in the...
