West London is endowed with a number of way better than average Asian restaurants. One of the latest additions to this array is Mama's where I had a 'special' lunch today: And it turned out that lunch had lots of ooomph. The 'special' lunch menu allows you to select a main course from an long list of rice/noodle offerings, either veg or non-veg. Also included is a small spring roll and either a small bowl of soup, or a pop. I selected the hot and sour soup and the Szechuan noodle chicken dish. My seat was still warming when I was presented with both a bottle of water and a potful of tea. Soon thereafter the soup appeared, and it proved to be an excellent choice, deep brown, slightly thickened and deliciously flavorful; as they say - quite ooomphable. The noodles followed; a healthy pile of hot, spicy, red-orange delight that neither asked for, nor gave any quarter. If I have any suggestion for improvement it would be that the included pieces of chicken be warmed to the same temperature as the noodles, the earlier pieces I ate were cooler than I expected. Even so, they did warm up as the meal continued and, overall, it was tasty, fully-spiced, satisfying and filling; yes - ooomphable too. Mama's is only a month old at this time. While all new restaurants take some time to establish I am certain that it will grow in popularity, it certainly deserves to. I for one intend to be a...
Read moreI’ve worked in the motion picture industry in Toronto for 40 yrs and have travelled all over and have eaten from many, many restaurants and this restaurant has in my humble opinion quite possibly the best food in this genre that I’ve ever had. They have the best Singapore Vermicelli by far. I usually get the Singapore, chicken spring rolls, Momos, Chili Chicken and their fried rice.Ive tried quite a few of their items and everything I’ve had gets 2 big thumbs up. They are to accommodate you if you want your food a bit spicier or hotter. I come to London every week or 2 and I always order their food. I caught a glimpse of the cooks in the back and a few of them are older and that means they have lots of experience which is something that comes with time. The gentleman at the front counter has a great attitude and represents the type of person that Every restaurant should have up front. Excellent food , excellent personnel. I highly recommend this...
Read moreMy family and I decided last night, to order take-out last night from Mama's Hakka and Momos. All I can say is we're glad we did. The food was outstanding! Perhaps some of the best hakka dishes we have ever had. We ordered the Thai crispy beef, was outstanding. The Thai green curry, wow, so flavorful real chunks of chicken. The spring rolls vegetable, and shrimp were excellent. The pad Thai was good, I dont think we would order it again though. There was a little problem with my order but the restaurant was quick to rectify it. Chicken pakora was very tasty if your a pakora fan. Our large order of steamed rice was massive. We are looking forward to actually going into the restaurant for a sit down meal. The portions served inside the restaurant are alot bigger than take-out, but that's totally understandable. Mama's hakka and momos is our now go to for Hakka/Chinese food. Keep up the great work guys, can't wait to try other...
