I had the chance to try Mama Fatma recently and overall, it was a positive experience with just a few things that held it back from being a full 5-star visit.
First, the good stuff: The food was genuinely good well-seasoned, nicely presented, and cooked to perfection. Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. You can tell the kitchen takes care with the ingredients and preparation. The service was also great the staff were attentive, polite, and quick without being pushy. They made us feel welcome and checked in just enough during the meal.
The atmosphere stood out the most. The restaurant has a warm, inviting vibe with beautiful decor and a spacious, comfortable layout. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for both a casual dinner or a slightly more upscale outing. Definitely a nice spot to bring friends or family.
Now, a few drawbacks: The prices are definitely on the higher side, and while the food is good, the portions and value didn’t always match the cost. One example that stood out was the fries $11 for a portion that would normally be considered a medium at most other places. It just didn’t feel worth the price, especially when there wasn’t anything particularly special about them.
Another letdown was the sauce selection. For a restaurant of this style and price point, I was expecting some house-made or more unique sauces, but instead we got Frank’s Red Hot for the hot sauce, which felt out of place. The white garlic sauce was okay, but again, nothing memorable or elevated. It felt like an area where they could really shine, but didn’t.
Final thoughts: Mama Fatma is definitely worth visiting for the food, service, and ambiance. You’ll likely enjoy your meal and the setting. Just be aware that you’re paying a bit of a premium, and don’t expect anything too exciting in terms of sauces or sides. I’d go again, but probably with a mindset of treating it as a special occasion place rather than a...
Read moreThis is the first time I’ve ever written a Google review for anything in my life and it’s only because this experience was that bad. From the moment we sat down, things felt off. No water was served when we arrived not even offered and when we eventually asked for some, we were shocked to find out we were being charged for it. It took over 20 minutes for a server to come over and take our order, and that set the tone for the rest of the night.
They kept bringing us bread throughout the meal, only for us to find out after the fact that we were being charged extra for every refill without being told. I don’t care what class or type of restaurant this is supposed to be, bread especially in a place serving Arab/Turkish cuisine should be complimentary or at least included with the meal. It’s literally the bare minimum in most places. Same thing happened with garlic sauce and ketchup. We asked for them casually like any customer would and only later realized we were charged per tiny cup.
The server was rude and pushy from the start. When we asked for a good appetizer that had a nice variety, he hyped one up and said it came with salad, hummus, baba ganoush, and more. When it came, we got a few sauces, a tiny dollop of hummus, and 4 pieces of pita chips. It looked like scraps.
But the most unacceptable thing. We were a large group, and one person paid the bill for all of us. After they left, the server came back to the rest of us and told us our drinks hadn’t been paid for yet, so we ended up paying again. Later we checked with the person who paid, and guess what? The drinks were already on the bill. So the server basically scammed us and double-charged.
The entire experience felt sketchy, uncomfortable, and just wrong not what you’d expect at a local restaurant, or any restaurant. I rarely leave reviews, and I never leave bad ones, but this place really pushed me to do it. Save your time and your money — go literally...
Read moreFamily met us half way from Milton while we drove down from Windsor. There was 1 staff member on site for the whole restaurant; naturally service was amazing a lot slower. Service did get better when it was mentioned and more attention was given at the later part of our meal.
Having had experience trying the Mama Fatma location in Mississauga and Vaughan, this location's meal sizes served was very disappointing. We got the family platter with additional kababs added on, iskender kabab and appetizer. Appetizer tasted great! The additional kababs were nice and hot off the grill but the meat, bulgar and veggies on the platter were lukewarm to touch and eat. The iskender kabab was amazing, but small. For the price to quality ratio, we as a family were disappointed.
The server on-site did make the best of our visit when he asked us our experience, hence the 4 star rating. The baklava was very good as well as the Turkish tea.
Overall, the ambiance and restaurant setup was done very nicely and has great personalized touches for a great seating experience. We just wish the food at our visit matched the environment and the raving reviews from Instagram and other reviews from...
