To the Public as a general warning about this Mc Donalds location at Oxford St & Wonderland Rd in London, Ontario. As we are all aware that impaired driving is wrong within our society we agree that people should report if erratic behaviour or verbal speech is found when encountering an individual we think may be impaired by alcohol However, my wife and I and 3 young children went through this drive thru at approximately 11:21pm this New Years Eve 2015. We drove through with no incident, erratic behaviour, no slurred speech or even probable, reasonable cause to suggest we were drinking as we spoke so closely to both staff at each drive thru window.
In this case tonight, some wise guy, a male staff member named Brandon advised us that our food wasn't ready and that we needed to wait in one of the spots designated a wait area for cars waiting for their meals. As were waiting for our food we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by 2 police cars demanding we shut off our engine, turn off our radio, stop eating our food and get out of the car !!!!
Our children at this point are actually afraid and really scared at this point and start panicking wondering what is happening !!. Only after a lengthy 45 minutes of verbal tests and scrutiny talk by the police did we find out that we were deceived by this Brandon individual and other Mc Donald's staff that they had lied to us in telling us that our food wasn't ready so that they could direct us to pull into one of their designated spots to wait for food while they could secretly call the police. Then they suggest to them that I was drunk behind the wheel without any valid reason, established grounds or even probable cause !! Imagine that ! You go through a Mc Donalds drive thru and are lied to about your food not being ready and to pull into one of their designated spots only to find out that they were secretly calling the police on some absurd assumption that we were impaired or at the least the driver was and then are surrounding by London Police !!
I asked the officers what was going on and why? They told us Mc Donald's staff called the us and I asked why?. So after speaking with the officers immediately within 2 mins of talking to them they determined that I had no alcohol smell on me or other passengers..!
Thanks a lot Mc Donalds, very sad ! You just lost 5 customers and probably more as I advise my entire family of your lack of dignity, respect and courtesy to your customers. That you think your doing justice or a service to your community when one or even 2 of your staff members has a notion or unreasonable thought that someone in your drive thru which has no alcohol on their breath nor any erratic driving behaviour or indication they are drinking but forwith deceive them by informing your staff to have them pull into a spot to wait for food that in fact was a lie that it was not ready only to secretly call police ?!
I'm sure though that 20 customers wont affect your revenue growth, but you keep doing this with all your customers you may NOT have many for long !
Highly unprofessional and almost ruined our New Years Eve for 2015 had the police not let us go before 12:00am.
In light of this though, it once again establishes that in this country your guilty before being proven innocent !!!! Don't visit this location unless you want to be lied to that your food isn't ready but to pull over into one of their designated waiting spots for food while we secretly call the police on you because we believe your drunk, but for no apparent reason either or no factual information, evidence whatsoever !
Way to go Brandon, but wait I cannot even be angry or disappointed with you because wait isn't it a Mc Donalds POLICY to do this...? (I think NOT...!)
Good thing I know a thing or two to the London Police: HARRASSMENT ! CARDING !
Isn't CARDING now ILLEGAL in this province and Country ?!
I'll be speaking with my lawyer tomorrow and Mc Donalds upper management tomorrow regarding our...
Read moreI suppose it's appropriate to end my near-50-year relationship at this, my first (in fact Eastern Canada's first) McDonald's location. While nothing particularly terrible happened during tonight's visit, my small problems in aggregate have led me to decide that I think maybe I should just be done with McDonald's entirely.
Our "buy one, get one" coupon, with a picture of two gleaming sandwiches, was in fact a coupon for "buy one sandwich AND FRIES and get a 2nd sandwich". Misleading advertising without question. I found myself scratching my head, wondering why on earth I just paid over $10 for a two-fer with no drink. We then waited, and waited, and waited for our orders. Orders placed long after ours were provided to other guests. A large staff gathering was happening right at the counter, while we continued to wait. And wait. This meeting was led by an apathetic manager who seemed unconcerned with the large gathering of guests waiting on service. At long last our food was presented without apology or thanks (by a manager!). One sandwich was screaming hot, another stone cold (and carelessly prepared... my Quarter Pounder had one large solitary chunk of onion. Great job!) We had to dodge and shoo fruit flies and debris from the condiment & drink counter. We then unsuccessfully tried to find a clean table. The dining room was an utter disaster and the team member cleaning was seriously, seriously dragging his heels. I've enjoyed a fudge sundae (with extra topping!) after my meal for several decades. The price has gradually been creeping up, but it's a treat and has always seemed tolerably priced. Today, however, the price rang up about 30% higher than normal at almost $4. I know menu prices always rise concurrent with mailer coupons, but I suspect this season it's a doozie. A team member started loudly talking about a drive-thru customer: "SOME CHICK IS GIVING ME A ROUGH TIME ABOUT (such-and-such)". This didn't seem to bother anyone but me that a guest was being loudly discussed so disrespectfully. all totaled our unextravagant meal for two adults, with coupons, was around $25. That seems, uh, kinda high.
Visiting McDonald's, to me, has always meant a voluntary sacrifice of food quality in hopeful exchange for: consistency value food safety & hygiene speed, convenience and basic courtesy
Over the last few years, culminating in tonight, it's evident I'm no longer able to count on ANY of these. Plus I know it's bad for me, and McD's is a bad corporate citizen, and without question an ecological nightmare. I think it's time to just stop.
So long Ronald, and thanks for...
Read moreToday was the last straw with this location! Essentially I was told all the staff are new and there are lots of mistakes being made. I’ve had more than one bad experience with this location. I ordered a pancake happy meal, sausage and egg McMuffin combo and an egg and bacon McMuffin on the side. I was given the happy meal but had to remind them about the rest of the order which at least I remembered because I almost drove away. I get home to find out the bacon and egg McMuffin was not there because it was interesting how the girl at the drive thru was rooting around in the bag like there were 3 sandwiches in there! Now I understand it’s a learning process and this may be a kids first job, I get it. Normally it would be a phone call and can you let come back and grab up the McMuffin that was missed. But let me tell you about ANOTHER order a week prior to this one where we ordered chicken nuggets and they were completely raw!!! My wife and I were sick with Norovirus for 4 days!!!! So these excuses that management give out to customers that their new hires are not trained is unacceptable and poses a serious health risk to people in this area. And what kind of Billion dollar company thinks it’s appropriate to offer a couple of free ice cream coupons in lieu receiving RAW CHICKEN. it’s an insult!!! Their compensation for instances should be more serious not just a Oops sorry! Head Office Corporation needs to reach out to store owners to figure out a solution to this ongoing problem as they do not have the talent to get it done. But I can one thing these store owners are doing….they are putting a bad reputation out there where other store owners take care and pride in their business. So to the owner of this location, shame on you for not dealing with this. This is not anything new, it’s been going on for years and now we need to travel further to other locations that...
