Being in the food industry these past 10+ years, with a 220 cover restaurant in India and 2 coffee shops in Canada, most people that know me would vouch that I am a very easy customer to please. I dont think Ive ever given a food joint a 3 star. I know what pains small business owners have to go through in order to manage the backend and operations of any food business.
That being said here is what transpired on Sat. (st paddys). We live real close to the division st location ( less than 1 km , Briceland). We were late in deciding about dinner after a late brunch and hence most other places would have closed at 10 pm. I went online and ordered a medium pizza with 4 toppings, a cheeseburger, a cheesecake and a garlic bread with cheese and bacon. The order was done at 10:12 PM ... we received the order at 11:16 PM ....Midnight rush??? The order total and the total asked by the delivery guy were 3 dollars off. Do I look at the slip, and then ask back for the tip that I already paid( Cad 5 as I thought there was no delivery charge). Is the delivery charge going to the delivery guy or being shared. Either way, a simple coding will show the write amount and would clear off this issue. 3.The burger buns werent toasted and were cut weird .( I get that this might be your usual style but coupled with a cold patty and slipping lettuce, it looked as if I had fished it from a dumpster. 4.The pizza was cold, chewy and at some places the dough looked way underdone. The burger was cold but ive already said that.
Now those reading the review might go come on and get over it... it happens. Believe me, had it just been that this review would not have appeared.
At 5 am in the morning, I had to wake up with a violent bout of cramping pains in the stomach. Had to go twice and couldnt sleep, stomach ache spoilt half of sunday. Wife had a milder version of the same, possibly because she didnt have the burger and less pizza than I did.
Lesson learnt, I am never ordering from Paradiso again.
The two stars are for the only saving grace, the garlic bread that tasted good, fresh and...
Read moreWhile there is no doubt the pizza is excellent tasting, overall I have found their other offerings to not be worth the price. With the exception of their chocolate shakes - they are delicious but for the price, quite under sized. Unfortunately, Kingston is not known for its plethora of good pizza delivery places so Paradiso does rank higher as a result. I have been ordering from them for over a year now and, I'm not sure if it is a lack of investment in technology, but they have no record of my orders and it seems like there is always a different order taker and a different delivery person. The number of times I have received friendly service on the phone can be counted on one hand with room to spare. Quality of service is not a priority. By far the most frustrating thing, though, is the time it requires between the order and the delivery. MINIMUM 45 minutes and that is at 2:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. I have waited as long as 80 minutes for food on a Saturday evening. I live approximately 2.5 kilometres from the store. It would take me less time to walk there and back. It's frustrating - especially when trying to meet the expectations of my family for a well-timed supper. But if all you are looking for is a good pizza and you give yourself some lead time, it's worth the price and the time. Oh, don't order "extra cheese" - there isn't a measureable difference between the regular amount and the extra and it's expensive. There is lots with "regular cheese" so save...
Read moreNot exaggerating, Paradiso has some of the best pizza we've had this side of Montreal (where a 35+ year establishment has one our lifelong favourite pizzas!) but we don't get back often to enjoy & you even have Jumbo size like they have there too! We are from an hour out of the city but have reason to come to the area at least once, if not twice a month. We almost always stop at the Division St. or Perth Rd. locations to get a couple pizzas or slices to come home. It hits perfectly every single time.
We have not tried anything else on the menu, but if it's held to the standard that the pizza is, it must be delicious too!
Both locations have friendly (the young woman behind the counter @ the Division location is a gem!) staff & a nice environment. Our pizzas (we've had probably 15-20 pizzas from here in the last almost year, which was when we first found this place) have always been exactly as ordered and waiting for us within the time frame given! They are delcious hot & fresh on the way home but also yummy cold & reheats great too. We purposely order big pzzas so we'll have leftovers because you can never have to much pizza...especially this pizza!
We will return time...
