Well, I have a mixed review for this brand new location in Kingston. We first ordered from them through Uber eats and were pleasantly surprised at the quality, quantity and pricing of our food. We dined in for the first time last night and it was a bit of a train wreck. The restaurant was extremely busy as Kingstonians rushed in for a new dining experience. It was to be expected that service may be lacking as soon as we walked in due to the sheer volume of patrons. We waited , patiently, to be acknowledged once seated but no one noticed our existence. We flagged a girl down and asked her to find our server. She proceeded to take our entire order for us. My glass of wine eventually showed up but my boyfriend's drink order did not. (She had to look at the computer to see if the bar even had ginger ale and had to ask us to point to the menu for everything we wanted to order) This was not our server but we figured she might just be helping out. Finally my boyfriend's drinks arrived and now we await our food orders. And wait. And wait. Aaaaaand wait. Eventually my boyfriend's appetizer appeared but they gave me my main meal instead of my appetizer. I told the food runner I had ordered an appetizer as well and he proceeded to take my meal away! I had to grab it back as we were quite hungry and I was not going to wait another minute to eat. My steak was over done and potatoes were cold. We finished up our "appetizers " and awaited the main course. And waited. Finally when we asked we were informed that the only thing that was entered for our orders were the nachos appetizer and my steak. AHA! THAT explained why I received my main meal instead of my appetizer š Meanwhile, I must inform you that our server, Jessica, was truly trying to give us her best but between inexperienced coworkers and a swamped kitchen she just couldn't apologize enough. She was truly great. The Manager finally got involved and gave 50% of my boyfriend's main meal and removed my appetizer from the bill. (I have a feeling they had to do this A LOT). In summary, I believe the pricing is fair. The quantity and quality is likely excellent (just not that night) The atmosphere was quite loud which we had to tolerate for nearly two hours.... but it is a sports bar. I will return but not for a few months. Give them time to iron out their kinks. I would like to see more of their menu offered on Uber eats as well. Time will tell if they can impress our very picky Kingston diners š...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas on our way home from Ottawa and decided to get some lunch. Looked up this place and decided to try it out. Atmosphere is good - I like the TVās by the table. The service was good- manager and servers were very friendly. We got calamari to start- it was it wasnāt good at all. It was rubbery and tasted like they got cheap frozen stuff that they deep fried. If you canāt serve fresh calamari then donāt offer it. The sauce was also tasteless mayonnaise base and not good. My husband got the rib and wing special with fries and onion rings. He enjoyed his meal. Was great presentation on his plate. Wings were nice and big and the ribs were decent. My meal was terrible- I ordered the double smash burger and it was small, poorly seasoned meat, the burger was super greasy too and the grease overshadowed the cheese which was barely noticeable. There was no tomato or lettuce and the bun was burnt. Since the meat was so low quality it actually tasted like cooked greasy meat with no salt. Yuck! The burger had very little else on it and they gave me a small see through layer of French fries- I could see through the tiny layer of fries onto the plate it was ridiculous! When I told my server about it she said- āthatās normalā. Meanwhile my husband had double the amount of fries and he couldnāt even eat all his. Maybe they thought giving me less would even out the portions? lol Anyways, my French fries tasted cold and like they came from a cheap no name frozen brand. I told the server that I didnāt like them- I hate fries with that crispy coating on them. So they offered me sweet potato fries and they were better- hot and fresh. They didnāt charge me for the sweet potato fries and for that they get 4 stars for service. But the server obviously doesnāt know how food should look like when plating it, nor does she have a good EQ to tell me thatās normal when itās clearly not and the cook should be retrained or replaced for even sending food out like that. I wonāt recommend this place because the price of the entreeās are too expensive for the quality of the food. They should cut down that menu size to invest more into the food quality instead of offering tons of poor quality options. Itās like a second rate Cheesecake Factory menu except terrible...

Nestled in the heart of Kingston, Ontario, One Eye Jack's presents a cozy spot for a casual dinner, promising swift service and a menu that caters to a variety of tastes. From the moment you step in, the quick greeting and seating set the tone for an experience that aims to please.
The drink selection doesn't disappoint, offering a refreshing start to the meal. The coconut shrimp, a popular appetizer, arrives with a decent flavor, though the deep-fry could be lighter to enhance its appeal. The portion sizes are generous, providing value for the money. However, a suggestion for the establishment would be to consider pairing the shrimp with a coconut sauce dip like a piƱa colada instead of the traditional Thai sauce, to complement the dish's main ingredient.
The main course, a double smash burger with chipotle sauce, bacon, and other toppings, boasts a flavorful meat that satisfies the taste buds. Yet, the bun-to-meat ratio leaves room for improvement, with a larger patty potentially elevating the burger to new heights. Additionally, a more liberal application of sauce could ensure each bite is as juicy and delicious as the last.
The side garden salad shines with its fresh ingredients and a what feels like a homemade French dressing that adds a personal touch to the meal. Companions at the table seem equally satisfied, with the Diablo burger receiving nods of approval for its taste and quality.
Returning for a second visit, the overall experience at One Eye Jack's remains enjoyable. It's a place that seems to listen to its patrons, and with a few tweaks, could perfect its offerings. Whether you're a local or just passing through Kingston, One Eye Jack's is worth a stop for a comforting meal in a...
