This is one of the most popular restaurants in all of Kingston, and one of the few places in uptown for adults to party in big groups. I went on a Friday evening so it was busy. This was a last minute decision as I never dine alone and wanted something that was a step above McDonalds.
My server Sierra was very welcoming and friendly. I almost didn't notice I didn't get a refill of my water until after I paid my meal. I understand as a one party customer on the busiest night I'm not the highest priority and my meal came quickly which was very nice. However aside from checking in at the beginning to provide utensils which weren't there (the meal was brought to me by a different server) I never saw her until it was time to collect the Bill however when she did arrive and refilled my water she was courteous.
As for The King Kong Club that I ordered; the turkey was very dry and was mostly an unchopped breast that made it awkward to chew. It would make sense though if that was part of the design of the sandwich. I like club sandwiches and Peter Jackson's King Kong is one of my favourite movies. How could this go wrong (haha). There wasn't a lot of Mayo and the cheese just looked like a thin store bought cheese slice thrown on. The sandwich lacked flavour and cohesion which is a surprise given its selection on the menu as one of Raxx's favourites. Next time I might opt for the Teriyaki Stir Fry.
The pool hall was full by the time I finished my meal at 7:30 so I opted not to wait. I like the prices but heard there's nowhere to put your drink which I understand given the spills and stains that happen at other venues. Next time I'm back I'll check it out.
This was a huge improvement from my first and last visit 8 years ago when I went day drinking with a newfound co-worker who turned out to have some issues and was cutoff on my second drink. Next time's visit won't be as long a wait I'm sure. All the staff this time were extremely welcoming and contributed to a friendly atmosphere where everyone around was having a good time. This was much less loud than other bar & grills due to carpeting, open warehouse concept and higher ceilings. No wonder I've been picking so many people up...
Read moreNever will I go to Raxx again!!!!!!! I attended this place approximately 3 weeks ago. I came from out of town to visit and friend and, in the past, we would often go for drinks, dancing, pool, etc. While I was at Raxx, I had set my wallet on a table bside the dance floor where my friend and I were dancing. I put it here, so that we could keep an eye on it from where we were. I walked to the other side of the dance floor and when I returned, my wallet was gone. My friend and I looked around for it, asking several people along the way if they had seen it. No one had. As I was looking, my friend turned to me and said, that guy that we just asked seemed to be acting very strange when asked if he had seen/taken your wallet. She pointed to the man who was now headed for the door. I followed him towards the front entrance where the bouncers were about 5-10 ft. away. I stopped the man and asked once again if he had taken my wallet. He said no. I could see that there was something bulky in the pouch of his hoodie where he had his hands hiding, so I, without asking, reached right into his pocket and sure enough, pulled out my wallet! At this point in time, I was extremely angry. The man then proceeded to head towards the door after being busted. The bouncers at this point, who had watched everything go down, said absolutely NOTHING! They did not kick him out. They did not tell him not to come back. They did not question his actions at all! At this point, my friend and I decide that it's time to go, so we grab all of our stuff and head for the entrance. As we walk out the door, there are 3 bouncers all there, socializing, laughing and conversing with this man who just stole my wallet! Here is everyone's "heads up" before ever coming to this place. They are allowing and condoning people like this to enter and hang out at this establishment. Surely it's not the first time this has happened and surely it won't be the last! Keep your belongings in your hands at all times and TRUST NO ONE. Not even...
Read moreI find myself writing this review with a heavy heart. Pre-Covid my family and I would frequent your establishment weekly every Wednesday for your AMAZING wings and great staff. My husband and I hadn't been out for dinner since COVID (breakfast yes, dinner no) I should have known it wasn't going to go well right from the start. The bar was practically empty (it was just coming up on 5:00pm) after the 2 hostesses at the front debated for almost 5 minutes on where they should seat us it was decided we would go to the back far right of the bar. Again, the establishment was practically empty. I say, it's ok! My husband and I are out on a date for the first time in a long time, seat us at the train tracks, I'm just happy to be out. Date night won't be ruined. Shame on me. The server came to the table and appeared to be very friendly, took our order and in less than 5 minutes our drinks and food would arrive. We were thrilled. My husband ordered the 40 creek, which were outstanding and I ordered salt and pepper. Unfortunately mine arrived bare, no salt and pepper and no ranch, they were very dry to eat. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have said anything anyway because I'm just happy to be out and I understnd what it means to be a server, BUT I wasn't given the option to choose because this would be the last time we would see the server until we get our bill at 6:20. She did swing by and ask if I would like another drink but didn't stay long enough to ask my husband who's drink was also empty, it didn't matter because she didn't return until she brought the bill. She did apologize and say she got stuck with a party of 45 (maybe there could have been another server who didn't have a section with patrons.) Very disappointing to say the least. I'm hoping this was a "one...
