I am changing my rating from 4 to 2 stars. Their breakfast was great the week before & I am sure their breakfast is great this week. Before I could even be seated I was treated by rudeness, indirectly (I don't think the waitress realized how far her voice carries) I travel alot back and forth from Kitchener to London. There aren't alot of "breakfast" restaurants that I have been able to find. I remember the previous Pancake House that is now Shelly's Restaurant. The week before (Aug 20) I believe it was the manager that seated me & my son. It was about 10 min before opening, but he was so kind as to seat us so that we didn't have to stand in the hotel lobby. This week on Thursday Aug 27, was a completely different experience. Me & my son enjoyed our experience last week, so the obvious choice was to come back. The hotel reception & the security guard assured us that the waitress would be there soon. We were there about 8 min before 7am, but we were fine to wait. After a few min, the security guard went in to let the waitress know that there were guests waiting at the front. I can understand that we all have good days and bad. I've come from a long line of customer service as well as working at our family owned restaurant for over 25 years. I absolutely would never tolerate rudeness of staff or customers, but I always remain professional. When the waitress was aware of our presence, she just told the security guard (a little too loudly) that they were not open (clearly did not seem to care) I can understand if they were not open yet. But we stood there, waited some more and decided to leave. I'm guessing they were not open at all or to have said "we are not open for a few more min.( I mean a few more min after 7 because it was 7:04 on my phone) So we left hungry, drove down to Cora's which is not open. Read moreHave been coming here for years, and it's always been a good and busy place. Recently I've noticed that they're less busy than ever before, and understaffed to match. The staff they do have, seem to not know where they are or what their job is supposed to be, because from the entire service we only were able to see our server meander by, and had to flag her down twice because she never came to check on us once. The other staff seemed just as lost and confused. No one ever once asked if we wanted refills on coffee, or if we wanted anything else at all in our lengthy wait for our food (despite it being relatively empty for a Saturday morning). When our food was finally delivered by the giant Roomba (an expensive tray that moves around-- who actually seems to have a greater sense of direction than the staff), our magician of a waitress finally reappeared to transfer the food from its tray and disappear before we could say anything else or ask for any condiments or finally a coffee refill (which we never got). The food was stone cold and hard just to top off the entire magical experience, and seemed like it had been sitting under a hot plate for so long the sausages could've been used as a weapon. Read moreWent for in law birthday ...the only complaint I had was the service and wait times...first we ended up waiting at the front just to get seated ..about 15ish min (place had empty tables but not even a host there to greet and let you know of Wait times)
Got seated which took the server another 14 min to finally come to us to get our drink order. We wouldn't have cared so much but the amount of times she passed us and didn't even look at us was setting a weird tone. (she also made the drinks incorrect with either too much alcohol in one and not enough in the others but we didn't complain about that)
The food took another 17-20 min to get and when we finally got it it seemed like it was sitting waiting to go out but servers were either too busy or didn't care.
I asked the host how many servers they had that night and he told me 3? so not sure what they were doing that took so long. The place wasn't even that busy.
The server we had seemed like she didn't care but to take order get food and get check . No human side of being a server.
If I wasnt there with the I laws I would have walked out and went to Crabbies.
Not saying I won't ever go back here but the next time I do it , I hope I can turn this 3 star review into a 5 star.
