Slickers County Ice Cream - Picton — Restaurant in Ontario

An ice cream shop that has been in business for at least a couple of decades should know what their best selling ice creams are!! When visiting here from out of town this past week to get our favourite campfire ice cream. We arrived and waited in line for approximately 15 minutes at the Bloomfield location only to be told that campfire was sold out. The staff there suggested I drive into Picton to the other location. After a long day at the beach and a two hour drive ahead of us to go home, we decided to go to the Picton location. After finally finding parking we went in and asked for campfire ice cream, only to be told they were also sold out. The moral of my review is, that I’ve been going to Slickers for decades and have told all of my friends, co workers and my kids friends about this place and many of them go frequently and now I won’t ever go back. I refuse to drive for hours for something that will probably be sold out! A business that knows what their best selling ice creams are should not be selling out especially after being in business for so long. It was VERY nice, but definitely busy; the crowd just kept growing!! I had already "picked" my flavors from all the ones shown on the walls (they have beautiful pictures with the flavors and their descriptions). My surprise when I got to the counter after the huge line though, was that they didn't have any of those flavors on the wall lol. So I had to make up my mind in a very short period of time choosing something similar to what I wanted, but from what they had available. They still had a bunch of nice choices, but completely different to what you'd be looking at on the walls lol. I must say the ice cream quality is AMAZING though; everything from temperature, texture, flavor was excellent. The service was also great, the staff was very helpful and fast to take our orders (we were a party of four). It was our first time here, and we definitely will be back when we go to Picton again! It’s one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had! I got a waffle cone with two flavors: Passionfruit and Pralines and Cream. They were both absolutely perfect and creamy on their own, but also complimentary to one another! The passionfruit flavor is refreshing and a little tart but sweet, it tastes like the fruit, nothing artificial about it. The pralines and cream has a butter caramel swirl that is to die for, and very crunchy and sweet praline pecan brittle. The ice creams are not overly sweet, they are perfect, I’m so glad I stopped on my way back from Sandbanks. I wish I could’ve brought home a pint or two, but sadly it would last the 3 hour drive!
