I unfortunately visited this establishment today with my daughter. I should mention that I have an invisible disability (PTSD) and so does my daughter (ASD). We were visiting Picton and I had made it a point to go to this cafe for gelato. We were being served by one of the employee's and beginning to ask questions about gelato, when another one of their employee's yelled out across the cafe "You can't have a dog in a cafe, you could get charged." As I turned my certified Service Dog around and told this woman that he is actually a Service Dog, she said "oh, sorry" and walked away. I paid quickly and left. However, I was too distraught to get the gelato we had been looking forward to. We had just left one of the local restaurants where we were treated with kindness and respect. We were not prepared for this kind of disrespectful treatment. If the woman had a question as to whether or not my service dog was registered, quietly talking to me would have been appreciated and more respectful than yelling out to me with such negative and disrespectful statements. Not only did she trigger my anxiety, she also triggered my 9 year old daughter because of her language used. I hope that you choose not to go to this place simply because of this employee and the fact that people can so easily be accosted in their establishment. I hope that, at the very least, this employee is forced to review law regarding disabilities and Service Dogs in Ontario/Canada. It was not okay what she did and it should not be tolerated...

We were disappointed with the quality of the food. We bought a croissant, muffin and carrot cake. The croissant tasted like the packaged ones from the grocery store. We were expecting fresh, buttery and flaky. The chocolate raspberry muffin was ok. I thought that the raspberries would be fresh but they were dried. The carrot cake had no flavour! Where’s the carrots!? The icing should have been cream cheese which it wasn’t. All of the food items were served cold which sucks for baked goods as they are more dense and firm rather than soft and warm as fresh baked goods should be. The coffee was fine. We’ve decided that this is the last time we’ll visit the Bean Counter. We usually go to the Beacon but for some reason we thought we’d change it up. Bean Counter has definitely gone down hill. Even their bars (Nanaimo and Millionaire) are cut into half the size that...

All I know about this place is that the two regular cups of COFFEE my husband and I bought yesterday were SO WEAK! I mean, what the brew they served us was worse than the coffee they serve in America. We bought beige, ever-so-slightly- coffee-flavoured hot water. Weaker than a weak cup of tea. It seemed to get weaker by the sip. I felt bad about convincing my husband to try this place. I was mislead by the name. I figured they would know a thing or two about how to make a decent cup of coffee. What a huge disappointment. I don't know if the regulars in PEC prefer beige water over real coffee or if the owner of this place is trying to save money on coffee beans (Ah! Perhaps that explains the name of this place!) but come on! Needless to say, we won't waste our money (or our coffee breaks) on this...

The Bean Counter was my shining beacon of yumminess and caffeination this summer when I was working in town. Their staff were all so friendly, and fantastic at remembering all their regulars. The breakfast and lunch options are varied and delicious, and their baked goods always hit the spot. They definitely make the best iced matcha latte in Picton, as evidenced by how many stamps I got on my little reward cards 😂

Stopped by the cafe after breakfast for a midday snack. Ended up getting the ginger molasses cookie and my husband got the lemon loaf, and we both shared a latte. This gives the feel of a small town cozy cafe. Lots of regulars were there and a sense of community which was lovely to experience. Food tasted great and drink was good!
