Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House — Restaurant in Ontario

The bad review is for the owners of this restaurant..... NOT the staff. We were excited to try this new place today and got there around 12:30 or so. We were seated right away and within 5 mins or so the same woman who seated us brought us our coffees and menus. So far so good. But then after waiting more than 15 mins for someone to come take our order, I got up to look for the waitress and found her. The poor girl was the only waitress there today she said, she was alone serving everyone. The place had about maybe 20 people, so she was busy. But then a couple came in and sat in the booth in front of us about 20 mins AFTER we arrived and the waitress took their order first which was an annoyance because that probably meant they would get their food first and we would probably have to wait at least 1/2 hour to get ours. So it would be an hour before we started to eat. We decided to leave before even giving our order and we didn't even finish our coffee. We asked the waitress how much we owed her for the coffee but she said no charge! We thought that was very nice and we thanked her, even though we were more than willing to pay for it. My grievance if with the owners on not hiring enough staff. It's lunch time and you have one sole person serving everyone. Not good at all...

For a location that just opened, the kitchen was fast, and the food tasted great. Their foyer is quite small, so we had to wait outside, but they have a text message notification, so it was easy to know when they were ready for us. The server was very friendly and accommodating to requests for changes.

I ordered the Oreo white chocolate chip pancakes while my wife ordered the avocado toast. If you have a sweet tooth, the Oreo pancakes will kick it into next week! Very good, but some may find it too sweet (not me!). The avocado toast was very good as well, eggs cooked perfectly. Decent coffee made the meal perfect.

Their prices run the range from under $10 to over $20, but for a decent typical eggs, meat, homefries, and toast, the prices are comparable to many other restaurants. There are less expensive restaurants in town that are just as good, but this one is decent for prices and excellent quality.

They are also participating in the buy a meal for someone else deal that is going around. Buy a meal, the receipt is marked paid and taped to the door. Need a meal, and you just take a receipt for a meal at no cost to you.

My Mom and I were so excited to eat here when it opened, been meaning to write this review for a few months. Our server seemed nice but also did not offer to correct mistakes made, including - they put jalapeños instead of avocado on my Mom’s omelette. I ordered French toast that was supposed to have “sweet cream” on it but it was literally coated in a gross frickin’ thick icing sugar sludge (that is not “sweet cream”, that is “royal icing” at best - misleading menu)… when I inquired, the server was again sheepish like “oh well”. Since the place had just opened and was busy, our server seemed like she didn’t want to slow down service or get in trouble or inconvenience the kitchen, so she literally left us with basically inedible food and we wasted $50+

Will NEVER try this place again. I’m a huge breakfast person. Simple fixes might have made me a regular customer. My French toast would have been amazing if not smothered in disgusting royal icing when I expected a...
