As a student at Western from ‘03 to ‘07, this used to be the spot to go, especially late night after a night out clubbing. The owner was always friendly and hospitable and the food was always on point. Their shawarma (wrap) was the absolute best, and what made it special was the purple stuff they put in. I even drove once from Toronto to London, just to get some shawarma, (I told my gf I just missed London and wanted to show her around, lol). So, believe me when I say that this place which seems to have now been taken over by some younger gents has seriously changed for the worse.
I recently visited here in September, to help a friend move some stuff to London, and he offered to buy me food for helping me out. Naturally, I chose Barakat (I think they’re changing the name to Tahinis now). So, I ordered 2 wraps (because god knows when I’d come back again) and my friend ordered one as well. We sat down to eat, and the first thing I noticed was that it didn’t taste how I remembered, and I realized the purple stuff wasn’t in the wrap. I asked them why it wasn’t in there, and they said that people complained about it, which I found weird, but no matter, I simply asked for some on the side, which he seemed annoyed about, but gave me 2 little containers of them, and I gave one of them to my friend. After finishing my first wrap, I was taking the second one to go, and I asked for one more container of the purple stuff, and the owner got upset, and spoke loudly for everyone to hear, saying how I already received 2 for free, and that he would have to charge me for the third one now (even though we had ordered THREE wraps, and this stuff should have been inside each wrap FOR FREE like it always has). I begrudgingly said I’d pay, and got my container and walked out. It’s a shame the new owner (or maybe it’s his son) has no idea how to handle customer service. Food is still great, but the customer service has really...
Read moreBarakat customer service is not great and their attention to any sort of detail is diminishing month to month. We used to order from them all the time - now, not so much. About 3 weeks ago we ordered 2 plates and they messed them both up. It was a Beef and Rice Supreme and a Chicken and Rice Supreme We called the restaurant with our complaint and the woman on the phone apologized, took all the information including what we'd ordered, and said we had a credit for both plates. She'd written it all down. Good stuff. So tonight I called to place my credit order. They found the paper with my info on it and said our credits weren't for supremes, just normal plates. So we said fine, charge us the $1 for each plate to make them supremes plus add in a bag of pita bread and charge me for that as well. The delivery woman showed up with the food and a bill for $22+. So of course I tried calling the store... no answer after about 15 rings. This is with the delivery woman was here - she said she wasn't in a rush so she was cool about it. Call #2... 15 rings, no answer. We were going to not accept the food but the delivery woman said try one more time, she'd wait. Call #3... 10 rings and finally an answer. The guy said there was no charge, that was just the normal bill they gave the driver. Bah. So we tipped the driver and looked in the bag - no pita bread and the plates were definitely quite a bit lighter than usual. Come on Barakat, get it together, man. With some more attention to detail and some better organization you'd be rocking it because the food IS really good. It's just so frustrating when you're always having to call a...

Went to London again for takeout. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Canada. Super friendly service. Really we want you to open a location in Tillsonburg. We have no Halal restaurants here. You would have no comparable competion here. I am a born and raised with North American culture and I had no idea how good Middle Eastern food was in my youth in terms of taste, quality, value and nutrition. Now I look at McDonalds and say to myself "I thought McDonalds was good until I tried real food from such as Tahini's Of course at the time the only cheese I knew was Cheddar and Swiss. Burgers, Pizza, Hot Dogs, Nachos, Chicken Wings and TV Dinners still seem ok to me but real food taste better and I feel better after eating it.
My mom loves food from Tahini's after my brother took here there- and mom's idea of spice is Salt and Pepper. She loved being introduced to the new taste sensations and welcomes any opportunity to eat Middle Eastern food again from Tahini's.
Please bring back the Beef Kabob. I really miss having it in the menu. Kafta is ok but pales in comparison to tasty steak on a stick.
2021 Experience here. Dined in here recently again with my wife. Fantastic food and friendly service. The food was plentiful and tasty. I was so excited to eat when I saw it that I felt my arms were vibrating. LOVE IT.
2020 Experience here Great tasting food and Halal. Eat here often. Parking is a little difficult in this location. They are very busy and do offer takeout and delivery. Friendly service.
