While walking around and exploring Picton we noticed Onesta. We already had a dinner reservation elsewhere but even with full stomachs, the rhubarb panna cotta was calling my name. We stopped in with the intention of just having dessert but then noticed they offered burrata as well and decided to indulge. Thank GOODNESS we did because it was incredible. As a couple who eats burrata frequently, this was one of our favourite preparations of all time. The balance between the soft cheese, crisp pistachios, bitter greens and fresh asparagus was perfection. Not to mention the soft and delicious focaccia that came to accompany it. I would highly recommend ordering it whether you are looking for an appetizer, dinner, or just something for after a meal. We did decide to stay on course and get the rhubarb panna cotta as well. It was truly outstanding. After spending two days just eating and indulging, it was still our favourite dish of the entire trip. The rhubarb? Tart and perfect. The panna cotta? Creamy, smooth and had the highly sought after jiggle. The croquant? Crunchy and dark in a way that balanced it exquisitely. This was THE perfect dessert for anyone! It would satisfy a sweet tooth but would also be amazing for someone who doesn't like things "too sweet". Now I know this review is long but our favourite part was the people. Our lovely hostess was effortlessly kind while offering insight and helping us truly understand the thought behind each dish. The chef was also so personable and provided his own reasoning for each component in a way we truly appreciated. If you enjoy knowing the story behind your food, grab a seat at the bar and watch the magic happen! Thank you for ending our evening with full hearts and full stomachs, I can assure you it was our first visit but will not be our last.

My husband and I were in the area and decided to stop by this restaurant as we saw the reviews were very good. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with the cozy ambience of the quaint yet lively restaurant and a warm smile from the hostess. She was very friendly and kind, and we were seated right away even though they were busy. We had the arancini to start, the side potatoes, the radiatore (so good) and the squid ink pasta. Everything was very very good and the portions are generous so we had lots leftover for the next day! We had the tiramisu for dessert - not to be missed, some of the best I’ve ever had. And finally, their zero proof drinks were the most complimentary drinks to the meal! I tried both the floreale and the aperitivo - both are fantastic! I would definitely recommend this restaurant as a one of a kind experience in the area! My only reason for giving a 4 star instead of 5 is due to a small hiccup regarding our service. I had originally ordered the aperitivo drink but was brought the floreale beverage and the server (different from our original waitress) suggested we try it complimentary regardless which I’m glad we did because it was fantastic! Our waitress came by at some point later and removed the drink without any explanation which we thought was strange. Other than that minor hiccup, we had no reservations about our experience and would definitely recommend onesta.

The pasta made in house here is amazing! My wife and I were able to get a late evening reservation to try the food at Onesta Saturday night while they are still doing a Countylicious menu. The creativity in their dishes paired with the delicious house made pasta is exceptional. We tried dishes on and off the fixed price menu and everything was very well done. We split an Arancini appetizer which was not the best I have ever had, but still really good. The bar is high for me on this dish after touring Sicily to try them all in the land the dish was created. What was exceptional for me was the Green pea, preserved lemon and ricotta starter with chilli oil. This was an inspiringly creative and delicious dish. I had the Scarpinocc pasta as a second course which was stuffed with roasted pear and parsnip in a brown butter sauce with hazelnuts. This dish was the best pasta I have ever had. I enjoy making my own pasta and have been fortunate to enjoy pasta in a number of trips to places around Italy, but none better than this dish. For me, the chocolate desert was a delicious finish but the pasta here was a special treat.

Will start off and say the food was really good! Would recommend this place for small parties (2-4 people) that love pasta and focaccia.

However we went here with a large party (8 people) for my birthday. I had emailed the restaurant well in advance for the reservation, noting the allergy restrictions that our table had (including nut allergy, seafood allergy, and a vegetarian). The restaurant confirmed that they would be able to accommodate these allergies and dietary preferences with a set menu, however when we arrived at the restaurant the server let us know that salmon would be one of the main proteins. We had asked if we could switch this out given the severe allergy, and she gave the alternative of packing it up in a box and sending it home as it was on the set menu. For a meal that was over $120 per person, I think it’s ridiculous to include any item on the menu when an allergy is noted in the reso. If this is not something that can be accommodated — that’s ok, we would have found an alternative — it would have just been nice to let us know in advance of booking.

The restaurant also does not appear to have air conditioning (or perhaps it was broken? We’re not sure). But it was hot enough that two people’s phones had overheated at the table. I realize that the restaurant does not control the weather, however not having any fans, with no air conditioning, made the meal hard to enjoy. Something to consider when coming in the summer — especially with a large group as the space is...
