I rarely write reviews unless I think a place truly deserves itâand this one absolutely does!
My wife and I had dinner here last night and enjoyed a perfect experience. Norfolk doesnât have many authentic Indian options, so itâs well worth the short drive to Port Dover.
The flavors were outstanding across the board. I love spicy curries with real heat, while my wife requested no spice at all. This gave us the chance to taste everything from the mildest sauces to the spiciestâand every single dish was packed with incredible flavor. Even the mild base sauces were rich and complex.
The spice level in the hotter curries was exactly what I look for: a gentle build that never overwhelms and keeps you coming back for more. I ordered the Chicken Korma but asked to substitute goat, and the kitchen happily accommodated my request. The garlic naan was exceptionalâperfectly foldable with crisp edges, generous garlic, and just the right amount of oil.
Even the small details impressed us. The napkins were thoes thick "cloth like" ones, and neatly folded around the cutlery in a unique and elegant way.
I honestly canât think of anything negative... Finding the washroom was a fun little adventureâitâs downstairs, and you walk past what looks like someones iving room. If you feel like youâve gone too far, youâre on the right pathâjust keep walking!
If youâre anywhere near Port Dover and love Indian foodâor simply great foodâmake the trip. You...
Read moreI have eaten Indian food all over the world my entire life and so I know good Indian food. I ordered Vegetable Korma which was mostly gravy with tiny peas, corns and carrots that looked suspiciously like they came from a frozen food bag (as a another reviewer here noted) - the cashews which is a core ingredient in Korma (that is also listed on their menu) in this dish were absent - very disappointing - I called to ask about this and they said it was because some people are allergic - so warn people but don't mess with the recipe. The fish pakora I ordered was dry thin and also disappointing. I'm surprised at all the positive reviews -this place is a hard pass given the quality and cost. If you want good Indian food and know Indian food, go to TAAL or Zaika in Brantford or drive to Brampton for the best in the province. My neighbour whose review is also up here had a similar disappointing experience and the CH attacked him for defaming them, being unfair and questioning whether he was really a customer. Too bad PD still doesn't have a good Indian restaurant and one that attacks their customers for honest reviews instead of addressing the weak and pricy food they...
Read moreIf youâre anywhere near Port Dover and craving amazing Indian cuisine, The Curry House is a must! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for an incredible meal. We started with Vegetable Samosas and Veg Manchow Soup â both were freshly made and bursting with flavour. The samosas were perfectly crisp on the outside with a savoury, well-spiced filling, and the soup had just the right balance of spice and comfort. For mains, we tried the Chana Masala and Aloo Gobi, opting for a spice level between mild and medium â it was absolutely spot on. Each dish was vibrant, aromatic, and served with fluffy rice topped with crispy onions (such a nice touch!). Of course, we couldnât resist the Garlic Naan â light, crispy, and packed with garlicky goodness. It paired perfectly with the rich curries. The food here is clearly made with care, and the service was friendly and attentive without ever feeling rushed. Whether youâre a local or just visiting the lakeshore, The Curry House is a gem worth discovering. Weâll...
