The Silly Yak — Restaurant in Ontario

I thought I would try this bakery because I live close by, but sadly my experience was disappointing.

Compared to other bakeries I’ve been to in Kingston, the staff member was not very friendly or enthusiastic about the products. I was debating between cupcakes and donuts with little feedback or discussion.

I tried to pay with Apple Watch but they don’t take tap. Most places prefer you use tap to minimize customer contact.

I’m also disappointed they still use styrofoam for their products.

I see from another review that the staff member is exempt from wearing a mask, but this is something to keep in mind before you enter this bakery.

What a clever name! The service is always pleasant and the staff know what goes into their products. They are also mindful in mentioning product care which I appreciated very much (example: bread in freezer, take out as needed). They have a grocery section, bakery section and take-out (sandwiches, beverages). At my most recent trip I found out they offer not only gluten free bread but also vegan bread, pre-made or packaged to take home and make yourself! My favourite part! Fantastic Customer Service, excellent gluten free products. I was so impressed with how accommodating The Silly Yak staff were when I asked for a care package to be delivered to my daughter in Kingston. They went out of their way to make sure a great variety of tasty treats were included and delivered quickly. All great GF things.
