Halibut House Fish and Chips Inc. — Restaurant in Oshawa

I can't comment negative on the meal, however food and clean should always go together. I arrived and seated myself in full view of cash. After placing my order I then noticed what appears to be a customary at this location, the staff eating their meal at cash while addressing the customer. Weird maybe, however this is where the story began to go downhill. Waiting for my meal I was challenged by the view of my waitress engorging herself in her meal while another waitress (right beside her) addressed a paying customer. This spectacle of engorgement continued as though she was sitting a her kitchen table back home. Yes. I watch as she would tilt her head back and finger feed herself with large morsels of fish and what ever else made it into her saliva moistened fingers. This was then followed by the 'get every last drop' licking and sucking of her fingers clean. But wait, its not over yet. This was immediately followed by her attending to a sitting customers needs, by grabbing some additional utensils without first washing her hands. Lets just say, If she had delivered my meal I would have left only after scolding her as this behaviour continued until her meal was completely devoured. NEVER DID I SEE HER WASH HER HANDS DURING MY TIME THERE. This does not include the times that she scooped ice of a lucky customer or more. Maybe the ice that hit her fingers did some...

My friends went in for fish and chips today and both ordered iced tea. They said it tasted like chemicals and the lady took it off the bill. They were nothing but respectful and even gave a nice tip regardless.

An hour later one became violently ill. And my other friend is 9 months pregnant and is extremely scared of getting sick as well. She didn’t drink as much of it as my other friend.

I called and asked for the manager and I even explained how it was an emergency because I needed to know what chemicals they used because if I had to phone an ambulance I needed to know. She said he was too busy to talk to me and said that she guarantees it’s not the iced tea and I felt like I was being accused of lying. My friends even liked the food and mentioned they’d go for fish and chips all the time but now they won’t.

Local Review: great food, great service! The staff are very friendly, the food is high quality (both the breakfast and the fish), and it's all reasonably priced. We've gone here on many weekends for months now. They know our preferences and orders off by heart. They serve toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes (yes, chocolate chip) whatever you would expect from a breakfast out. The $2.88 special is quite good. The fish isn't too greasy, the batter is nice and it's all high-quality! You can seat yourself at a variety of tables/booths, and the staff are quick to serve you. They are generally quite attentive and won't hesitate to top off your coffee even if you only have taken a few sips.
