Food is great, atmosphere is great, owner is great, service could be nicer in the morning. After my hairdresser paid for me and my partner to have a date here, I've been bringing in friends and family every couple weeks to enjoy the food and Johnny's. We had one woman as our waitress the first couple times, I believe she's the owner and she's wonderful. Kind and appropriately energetic. However, the last 2 times I've come in, we've gotten a woman named Bonnie. She's polite to an extent. Sometimes it seems like she doesn't want to be there and today she wasnt very nice. I ordered pancakes beside my breakfast and she specified it would be 4.75. I asked for chocolate chip pancakes, nothing was said. I get the bill, it says 5.75. I know that's just a dollar extra, but I ask about it cause that's not what was advertised. She points to the number 3, which shows 2 chocolate chip pancakes for 14.25, still not what was advertised. No where does it say chocolate costs extra or that it's 5.75. I'm not upset about the price, I'm upset that it wasn't clearly advertised. She refused to budge so I just paid it but I felt tricked. The other woman definitely would've been clear and communicate, Bonnie just didn't seem to care. It's disappointing. I hope someone has a talk with her. Other than that, this place has been great to me and my friends. Never have I been disappointed by the food. Just make sure you ask the right questions if you don't want your bill to be raised like mine was.
Edit: Apparently the woman I complained about views this as a "nasty review" and they no longer serve chocolate chip pancakes?? This review wasn't about the pancakes, the pancakes were great. The one criticism in this 4 star review was about HER behavior. That's what needs to change, not the menu?? I just wanted prices to be...
Read moreSad that I have to post this review as I actually use to really like the place. Yet it has become really out dated and over priced. Not only that.. they seem to not have as much pride in the food or service anymore. We were seated in a booth where the blinds didn't work and so caused the sun to be blinding at our table.. yet we worked with it eager to get some bfast. We ordered our food and waited 30mins before watching them serve the table that walked in AFTER us their food first. So once I asked where our food was.. she began to say she dosnt know it's not her fault. When I ordered.. I specifically asked for well done crispy bacon with my 3 egg bacon n egg bfast that took over 30 mins to get to the table. With undercooked bacon. No toast and my poutine was fit for a 2 year old with maybe a whole 10 fries on the mini plate. She than told me to give her back the bacon on a plate she provided. We said forget it n decided to leave. The lady who served us was another issue. Although she seems to be a nice lady because I have dined there before.. . Her hygiene for a restaurant food server is a big hard to be nice about. Her fingers r yellow and she is sweating like crazy. Sweat sweat sweat it's gross. It's literally dripping off of her. They need to turn the ac up for her as the place is stifling and she's the only waitress probably doing everything. Still... it was not a nice experience and I will never go back. Bye bye Johnny's. We had some good times. FYI.. Wimpys Is up the road with better food and customer service....
Read moreUpon walking in, the ambience seemed like a funeral was being held. Quiet, and only about 5 or 6 customers at the peak of breakfast time. When the waitress approached me, I had to initiate conversation. She wasn’t rude, just not friendly in the least. She took my order, but the food was brought out by another waitress who said she was helping out on her day off. There were only 5 or so customers, so I’m unsure of the need to be “helping out”, but she was actually nice.
The food was decent, however what they call “home fries” are not prepared on a flat grill, but actually deep fried dollar chip potatoes. Didn’t like them at all. Never saw the original waitress again, nor the other one for that matter.
The worst part was no one came by to offer a refill of my coffee. That’s the first breakfast place I’ve been to in my life, EVER, where you’re not approached for a refill of your coffee. I didn’t get a bill either, so after waiting, I approached the counter to pay.
The original waitress was there. I asked if it’s not customary to ask customers if they want refills of their coffee. She said it was….but, didn’t apologize for not offering it to me, nor for not even coming by to check on whether I was satisfied with my food, if I wanted anything to drink, or if anything was missing. Not a great service experience at all.
My advice is to order the take out, because the food is decent…at least then you won’t have to endure the poor service. She definitely needs...
