I have always enjoyed The Keg for food and dining experience. Until last night February 27, 2025. I went for a birthday meal with just my best friend and I. Upon arriving home after dinner I realized my purse was left at the restaurant. I immediately called the restaurant, told them my reservation name and they found my purse at the booth I had eaten at. They told me the purse would be with the host waiting for me to pick it up. I called back an hour later explaining I will be in tomorrow to pick up the purse. They said okay.
Today February 28, 2025 my boyfriend and I went to pick up the purse. Upon opening the purse I immediately realized my Lululemon gift card was stolen. (The purse was basically empty- eye lash brush, Lulu gift card, a change pouch with petty change and my license)
I called the restaurant to immediately ask for them to check camera footage as my Lululemon gift card was stolen. The manager finally came on the phone explaining that he HIGHLY doubts any of his employees would steal a Lululemon gift card because many people have left wallets there with cash in it and it goes untouched. I said I can guarantee it and cameras need to be checked. He said that my purse was left in the safe and there is no camera on the safe. I said no it wasn’t in a safe the entire time because the woman on the phone yesterday told me it would be left with the host upfront (heavy traffic area) He explained yes it was left at the front but when they realized you weren’t coming for it until today, they put it upstairs in the safe. I said okay there is a time lapse where it could have been easily stolen. I asked for cameras to be checked.
Instead of him simply checking camera footage of what he claims would have been a short time period for anything to potentially be stolen, he suggested I call Lululemon and ask if the gift card was used.. and if it has been used he wants me to ask Lululemon to check camera footage of who used the gift card. When I can send him the footage of his employee using the gift card then he will confirm it. I’m sorry but I am unable to do police work. Lululemon isn’t going to send me over footage of someone using a gift card. Not to mention it can easily be used online. It can be used anywhere all over the country. Wouldn’t it have been much simpler as him, the manager, to check an hours worth of camera footage at the host table.
Anyway, this leads me to leaving a 1 star review. Shady people clearly work in this establishment including the manager considering he was absolutely no help and leads me to believe he possibly took part in the theft of my gift card.
Thank god, I called Lululemon and they were able to immediately drain the funds, and send the remaining balance to me electronically in a...
Read moreI wanted to give 1-2 stars but I won't take away from how good the food always is. Today I was extremely displeased with the service I recieved. I use to eat at the keg all the time (pre covid), tonight me, the wife and our 2 young kids decided to go for dinner. First, apparently their dining area is literally only available to reservation only seating. No seating in dining area is left for walk ins. Only area for walk ins is in the lounge area. Fine, we will take a spot in the lounge, and we're told we can have a booth in the Lounge since we don't want our young kids sitting in bar high chairs.
About 15 minutes go by and I check with the lady about us getting seated, and she said any minute. Another 15+ minutes go by, my kids are getting impatient, as am I and my wife, I go and ask again because we noticed a family of 4 who came after us was seated in the lounge already. Apparently my name was called, actually she said they yelled my name which was a blatant lie as I was staring with anticipation at the ladies the entire time thinking when the hell are we going to be seated, not once did me or my wife hear my name. Finally we get taken to the lounge to be offered a bar table with all bar chairs. Now I am visibly upset, but keeping my composure. I believe a manager stepped in and sat us at a tiny table in the dining area pretty quickly. She was very sorry for what we went through. Service from that point on was average, I have high expectations at the keg Becuase of the many great experiences I have had and many amazing servers I have had, tonight was just average. Kinda slow service with minimal visits from the waiter.
As I stated before. The food was excellent. Always has been, always is. Now I have had minor hiccups with the keg before and the keg will literally hand out free apps/desserts like they do their bread, and is a great way of making up for an issue on their end and to my surprise, nothing was done for us after the disaster that begun the evening for us. I didn't make a big deal about it, still tipped my waiter 20%, and left with a full belly, but like I said before, I have high expectations at the keg and tonight other than the food, the service expectations were definitely not met.
At least I know now, that if I want to eat dinner at a normal time in their dining area, I have to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance.... (what I was told by the girl at...
Read moreI decided to have the keg Oshawa for Mother’s Day dinner. As opposed to dining in I opted for take out as it’s much easier than trying to manage the kids in the restaurant. I ordered the New York with peppercorn and lobster. My meal was $69 and my order total was $150. I ensured I was at the restaurant within a 10 min window from what was given. When I removed the lid I noticed the peppercorns looked a little black. I didn’t think anything of it, but as I proceeded to eat the steak my mouth was overwhelmed by a burnt taste from the peppercorns. I removed most of them but the burnt taste began to overpower the taste of the steak. I sent a text to the restaurant letting them know that the steak was a disappointment. When I spoke with the manager Michelle she began to justify the burnt peppercorns based on the fact I ordered medium well. Unfortunately, I ordered online and I did not have the privilege to know that the peppercorn would be burnt if I did any cook pass rare. As she stated “the longer the cook the more burnt”. My thing is, put that info online so people know before they ordered. She proceeded to ask if the inside of the steak was ok. Like why would that matter if the outside is burnt and not appetizing. I love pepper so the heat is not a concern. She offered to replace the steak. But warned that I may encounter the same issue if the steak was the same cook. I guess that’s the best they can do. If I was in house dining, what would have been done. I probably wouldn’t have had this issue. I ordered from here before and the top sirloin was burnt like fully charred. So, do better The Keg Oshawa. I prefer to drive to Ajax, although your location is 10 min from me. This will be the last time I order from this location because why should I spend so much for mediocre food. The steak is the centre of the meal, it should be perfect. I wouldn’t even mind if it was a little over but I shouldn’t have to scrape 3.00 worth of peppercorns off my steak, cut around the over charged pieces and proceed to eat my steak hoping I don’t bite a over burnt...
