Yesterday I decided to try this restaurant and I was blown away by how good it was! I have no idea why it was empty in there. You guys are sleeping on some incredibly fresh and flavourful food. It was so good that I went back again today! 😂
While speaking to the gentlemen (the same one who served me yesterday) about my back to back visits I made a joke about wishing they had a stamp card in which they do. This is where I was slightly put off. Sure, I guess I can see why they don't advertise the stamp card upon each purchase, but once it came up you'd think he would have stamped both visits considering the consecutive visits were the topic at hand. When I asked him if he would he said no. I mean. Such a very minute gesture for a business to show appreciation for a customer in this particular situation. One who at this rate, was likely to spend a lot of money there going forward.
It's not a big deal of course, the food is still incredible and it's just a stamp. To me it's the principle however. I just thought that was a bit of a petty move and really turned me off. Especially, had he mentioned it yesterday when I purchased the first time, it wouldn't have even been a thing today. It spoke volumes negatively compared to the very insignificant impact on them to just add it. It wasn't like I was asking him to unjustifiably add ones I didn't earn. In my opinion, it was a large price for them to pay. I left there feeling disappointed rather than joyful and humorous about my daily visits like I'd felt walking in.
Small gestures mean the world and the inability to see the big picture or the long game when building a business is shocking to me because it's really so simple. To be honest, I shouldn't have even had to ask in the first place. I used to work customer service/restaurants and I currently own a business. It wouldn't have even been a question for me to do that for my customers! Zero hesitation. Customer service is so different...
