Update - 13th Jul, 25 - changing this to a 1-star review - A short time after my last review, we went down to only 1 job so we couldn't go out to eat as often as we had liked. Sadly, over the years, each time we visit the Kanata location (maybe every 8-12 months), things have gotten gradually worse in a few areas.
The service has gone very downhill. We realised when we vitisted for the last time yesterday that we've recognized no one every time we visit. Their employee turnover must be pretty high and after reading a few of the lower rated reviews over the years, I can believe them happening.
The food was also terrible if I'm being blunt. Yesterday was the tipping point and we have desided to no longer visit anymore and stop giving them chances.
The fish I had was wet and soggy, almost like they tried to fry frozen fish. The fries are most definetely different - more frozen shoestring rather than fresh cut fries, and the coleslaw was very bland. My partners was in a simiar state but his burger was soggy/mushy and the bun just kept falling apart in his hands, the taste was also far to be desired.
We shared some beer battered maxi fries that came with barely any flavour (had a nice crisp to it though) and we did ask that they come with the rest of the meal. This didn't happen, the mains came possibly 40 minutes later but the beer-battered fries, maybe 20m before that. My impression was that something went wrong in the kitchen/ they were taking too long so the maxi fries were brought out ahead of schedule to create a delay.
Looking at the menu closer online, it's like someone who doesn't know how to cook made it. Or at the very least, by someone with no artistic ability to create something a customer would really enjoy enough to come back a second time. Not to mention, the cheapening of the ingrediants is very visible, at least to us. The cooking staff can't even cook any of the orignal menu items. The food quailty gets worse every time and this experience was the final straw.
I didn't even finish my dish, there was more than half left on the plate. Not to feel rude, I simply took the rest home with me and I can honestly say I very rarely do this. It would only happen if I ordered too much, and not because I was given something so boring, tasteless, and unenjoyable. I was very much looking forward to coming back, hoping another year brought a better experience, but I regret it.
The service everytime we go gets steadily worse. Forgotten items were common or just being forgotten to the point where we might have to just go up to the bar and pay instead. A welcoming hostest here and there wasn't very welcoming but that's never really bothered us since likely a minimum wage job.
Ending comment: Looking back over the years, I feel like I've witnessed a real 'Kitchen Nightmares' by Gordon Ramsey situation unfolding. Cheaper talent, high turnover with no long-lasting staff, employees not caring about pride in their work, no quality to their dishes, and cheaper ingredients used to reaplce the past high quality items.
The amount of customers (crowdiness) and been very cearly declining over the years. Saturday night at 8-9pm and there were maybe 10-15 tables full out of the whole building, with upstairs being deserted. I'm not into sports but there was a Red Blacks game and I thought this was one of the hotspots on any game night? I think people are realizing this location is no longer worth the high cost.
The sodas were great though, very nice 👍🏼
4 years ago (4 star): Always love coming to 3Brewers and I generally come with either my boyfriend or some friends. Last time I went unfortunately the fries were kind of overdone and the time before that my order was put in wrong so I didn't get exactly what I wanted. I still love the place and will certainly continue to come, just a bit of constructive criticism I guess is what I'm trying to...

My wife and I went to 3 Brewers – Kanata last Friday with another couple for dinner after seeing a late afternoon movie at the Landmark Cinema right next door. So, with that, the location is very convenient
Despite arriving at 6:00 pm on a Friday, we did not have to wait long to be seated; and we were able to get a good table outside on the patio (to experience, possibly, one of the last chances to enjoy a patio meal this year). The way the tables were arranged, however, two of us would likely be eating our meals with the setting sun shining directly into our eyes. The staff were very open and agreeable to our suggestion that we rotate the tables 90°
The menu has a wide variety of choices for appetizers, entrees and side dishes, with colour-coded dots to indicate which beer choices would go best with each food menu choice. We ordered one Cali Melt, one Beer-Battered Fish & Chips, and two Traditional Sauerkraut
The verdict on the meals: • The Cali Melt is excellent – definitely recommended • The Beer-Battered Fish & Chips is amazing. The beer-batter puts it over the top. Warning, however, unless you are really hungry, only order one piece of fish as their fish portions are much larger than what is usually served elsewhere. With that one qualification, it is also definitely recommended • The traditional Sauerkraut is very good; though, at least for my taste, the mustard included with the meal only goes well with the Octoberfest sausage and the Black Forest Ham. It does nothing for the Toulouse sausage. And, for my tastes (I grew up with sauerkraut at least once a week), this sauerkraut is average. Still, if this is what you enjoy, the meal is worthy of a recommendation
As it was my birthday, I also got a free dessert. The menu stated that I was supposed to load their restaurant app to get a birthday reward. Our waiter, however, said that this was not necessary and I received a free dessert of my choice. I chose the Liege Waffle. It too was very tasty, though, myself, being an ice cream lover, I would have preferred just a little more ice cream to waffle. But the Beer Caramel Sauce was great! Definitely recommended
Access into the restaurant and to our table was completely barrier-free. Parking is also barrier-free, though given the size of Kanata Centrum Shopping Centre and the location of 3 Brewers, it is some distance to the parking. Their washroom is also configured to be barrier-free WITH ONE EXCEPTION. It is on the second floor, and you need to climb a set of stairs to access this...
Read moreIt was a beautiful sunny day in Kanata. After much deliberation we, as a group of four, decided to treat ourselves to dinner on a patio. What a great idea and 3 Brewers was going to be the place where we would make a memory together. Well, we now hope it’s a memory we can soon replace in the future perhaps? Only time will tell.
We put our names down as there was a wait to be seated - understandably. Such an establishment on a Saturday night would warrant such delays. Many were enjoying their dinners so we were happy to wait. We were told twenty minutes. Very acceptable. We decided to take a walk around. After 20 minutes we started to head back to the restaurant. We weren’t surprised that we didn’t receive the call within the 20 minute suggested wait time. Clearly we saw they were busy so we gladly waited with patient expectation. Another ten minutes had passed and we decided to walk in and check on our status. We were pretty hungry by that point and just wanted to see how the evening was progressing. As we approached the hostess, we were met with a confused and somewhat concerned look on their face when we asked about the status of our table. It was a clear tell that we had been forgotten. She scrolled down the list with her pen and passed our name, then went back up as if to confirm that those in front of us were in fact already seated. Another tell. Much disappointment filled our hearts, and grumbles continued to echo in our stomachs. She quickly announced that she would get a table ready for us. We left a phone number when they took our names. Something tells me our waiting on their beck and call was all in vein. Perhaps our reminder was not the only one of the evening. No, it certainly was not. Two gentlemen came in after us in the same fashion, requesting an update on the status of their alleged seating arrangement. “It’s been a half hour and we were just wondering….” You can fill in the blanks. A repeat of our experience unfolded before our very eyes. It seems as if the false promises of a future dining experience were merely attempts to keep the busyness at bay. Perhaps it was also an understaffed establishment like many others.
I wish not to cause grief with this review, I simply am making observations and relaying them in the the best way I know how. We were disappointed with the service and the food was average. Not what I was expecting from 3 Brewers as I’ve heard good things about them.
3 brewers? Maybe. You might be rolling the dice. But, like with everything else in life, our choices come with risks.
Yours sincerely,
The 3...
