This is THE BEST brunch place in Kanata FOR SURE. The meal is very nice, and even more appreciated when the price is average among most of the bunch places I visited.
Now in detail.
The wrap with crispy chicken was very flavorful, thanks to the chipotle mayonnaise, such a smart choice. Mayonnaise is also fat based which might come across as “greasy” but actually not, because the hint of the spiciness of the chipotle just balanced it out nicely and still made the fatty classic crispy fried chicken the star of the show. It was also a very filling dish, in the most satisfying way.
The avocado toast, sounded simple and tasted simple. Simple doesn’t not mean one-toned, instead, simple means everything comes together as a harmony. The freshness of tomato added a good contrast to the avocado, building a perfect balance with the saltiness of smoke salmon. Also the texture of these ingredients, the crunch of the veggie, the meatiness of salmon, the buttery avocado, plus the chewiness of the toast, was like a dance in your mouth.
The drink is a lavender blueberry 7-up. It was very refreshing. The lavender flavor was subtle but there.
And the home-style potato was seasoned so properly with I-m-not-sure-what herbs, not too salty, with a strings of fried red onion, reminding me why I love potato so much.
Last time I came and ordered the steak benny, also seasoned nicely, way better than some real pricey steak (like the next-door one). The eggs were perfectly pouched — I know this is expected from a Benedict egg but still kudos for your job properly.
One thing with their plates, in general, is that their flavor profile is always interesting, inspiring and almost intricate, but well-balanced. Big thumbs up to whoever came up with the menu, you are a genius. And also thanks to the kitchen crew, you guys are making magic.
The plating and presentation are also delightful and delicate. The overall vibe of the restaurant feels like “it’s a beautiful morning and let’s chill for a little”. Very bright atmosphere I love it.
One little heads-up, if you are planning to visit during the weekend, prepare for a 20-to-30-minute wait. But the plates WORTH the wait. THEY REALLY DO
If you don’t mind taking your lunch break a little further, then this is the most ideal place for a little freshin’ up during...

The great The menu is varied and has great options for a balanced meal, as well as more decadent options. This is not your typical Denny's type restaurant: It's a lot healthier and upscale.
The excellent Very attentive and polite service. They were nice, not just at the time to give a tip but all along. The restaurant decor is very nice and has a European flair that we found refreshing and different. The restaurant is large and has ample seating areas inside, as well as a few tables outside. Service is reasonably fast even during a busy Saturday morning.
The greatest Everyone in our party commented this was the best brunch they had had in the last few years. The fruit waffles were soft inside, delicious and delicately appointed with fresh fruit. The Eggs Benedict were great, but we had to ask them to redo them as they were a bit too runny to our liking, they redid them without any fuss, and then everything was perfect. The mango smoothie was really good, and not overly sweet. The Angus beef Eggs Benedict were incredible.
The not so great During our second visit we waited a long time to be served after being seated, seems like a change of shifts created some confusion. When something needed to be rectified, it took a very long to arrive at the table. Despite this, the server was apologetic and polite through our visit. I think they were short-staffed the morning we visited the restaurant.
Do I recommend Pur & Simple? I do, as a matter of fact we're going there today, two...
Read moreWhen I started coming here in spring 2024 I loved it. Amazing service, delicious food and a packed house.
I’m not sure if there has been a transition of management over the last 7 months but the last 2 visits have been a complete 180.
The 2nd last visit we waited 10 minutes for a cup of coffee. The resto was near-empty on a weekday morning. Yet a server was able to clean and reset the table directly behind us.
We finally walked out and as we did she - oddly- was standing by the doorway shocked asking if there was something wrong. (?)
We decided to give it one last try 2 weeks ago. Although our server was extremely accommodating & friendly the food was terrible. I ordered the same Oh-La-la and I was shocked at the very dry crepe and overly ripe bananas to the point I couldn’t eat them (there was but a few strawberries inside to boot.) Gross.
Our waitress asked how it was and I was eloquently honest about the meal. She did seem understanding but stated there was nothing she could do and asked if I wanted something else.
For a $60+ breakfast I would avoid this place. I’m certain it’s under new management because all of the servers we had continuously were suddenly replaced and this place took a nose-dive in quality.
Ps: if you don’t like the loud sound of heavy wood chairs scraping on tile flooring don’t come here there is an...
