The hostess was a lovely girl! Upon entering, she greeted us with a smile and promptly sat at a table near the window! She gave us our menus and advise us the server would be right along. When the server arrived, my friend and I both ordered a beverage. She ordered a coffee and a small orange juice. I ordered a vanilla milkshake and an ice water. (the waitress told me the milkshakes are made with imitation syrup not fresh ingredients) she also took the drink order for the table behind us at the same time. Keeping in mind, the table behind us entered several minutes (5) after we did, they received their drink order first. We received our drink order a few minutes after that. My guest was served her 3.25$ coffee and large orange juice... she ordered a small 🤷🏻♀️ I was served my milkshake that was more like a glass of milk with some imitation vanilla extract in it ( I did not receive my ice water) we had questions about the menu and during mid conversation, the waitress walked away from (us)our table on two separate occasions. We sat there in dismay of what was happening. We ordered the house, chicken dip w/ nacho chips… It was served, ice cold. We sent it back to the kitchen, it was returned to us lukewarm. The flavour was ...meh at best. Frank's hot sauce, some cream cheese, diced chicken cheddar or marble cheese on the top. My friend ordered a BLT... it was fine . She also ordered a side of diced home fries… They arrived at the table cold and soggy and floating in a half an inch of chicken soup stock 🤦♀️ . She didn't bother to send them back, but she didn't eat them either. I ordered the fish and chips… I wish I would've taken a photo, the fish was burnt and I could count the number of fries that were on my plate. It came with small little container of coleslaw which was absolutely tasteless & gray in colour. The tartar sauce had a nice flavour 😊
The waitress was short and curt with us, the food was barely passable and the atmosphere wasn't very pleasant. There was a very strong smell of stale deep fryer oil that was permeating throughout the building. The location that we visited was in Barrhaven.
I remember eating at Broadway several times inthe past! The location on Prince of Wales and I can't remember where the other location was but the food was decent & the service was fine. Not so sure what's happening in Barrhaven I won't be back anytime soon. Too bad because I like supporting small /...
Read moreTried to go here for lunch not long ago, and while I've been going here for more than 20 years, I will not be going back again. With this entire bogus Covid-19 situation going on, myself as well as other family members have medical exemptions that don't allow us to wear masks. Myself personally, I had stage 4 lung cancer when I was 9 years old which left me with damaged lungs from the cancer, chemo and radiation. As a result I am a lot more inclined to contract lung infections than the average person which can happen from from wearing a mask; specifically bacterial pneumonia. The manager at the time was extremely rude and treated myself and my mother like we were some type of intrusive foreign entities in comparison to, in his words, "my other customers", like we were 2nd class citizens. So if you want to be discriminated against, publicly humiliated in front of the rest of the customers in the restaurant and treated like you are "less than" the rest of compliant customers, then broadways bar and grill in barrhaven is the right place for you. If you have or had any type of medical condition that has left a long lasting impact on your body and health and that also leaves you un able to wear any type of face covering, you are not welcome at this restaurant; they do not want you there. If your medical issue wasn't enough to deal with in life, they will treat you like dirt and kick you out of the restaurant so all of the other normal customers feel safe. Manager is a cocky mouth piece, obviously has never been put in his place before and thinks he can talk to people however he wants. Let's just say the outcome of the situation would have been completely different if no one else was around to see what would...
Read moreThe good:
Nice place inside. Spacious, kinda dark, nicely decorated for that ‘basement man cave bar’ kinda vibe. That’s about where the complimentary portion of this review will end.
The everything else:
Food sucks, service is terrible and we won’t be back.
Went in for brunch today, and both of our orders the eggs were cooked incorrectly (somehow scrambled eggs means one uniform piece of egg loaf that has the texture of a size 11 Nike running shoe sole - see attached photo). Our homefries were wet, like they were soaked in oil, but void of any crunchiness. The onions in the homefries were undercooked and the only thing crunchy about the home fries.
The “eggs and beans” meal also only comes with a large shot glass sizes serving of beans.
When the server came by and we asked for the cheque with mostly full plates he asked “oh would you like this boxed up?” I responded with “absolutely not” and before I could ask for a manager, and without inquiring why we would leave 9/10s of the food on the plate and express we absolutely do not want the food, he vanished. He returned with the cheque and that was it. The place was half empty with over 5 servers seated at the table nearest the door rolling cutlery, so we know this wasn’t because the kitchen was overwhelmed with orders or anything. Just really bad standards.
The synopsis:
All in all; for 3x the price of other breakfast spots in town like Summerhays on Baseline or the same price as Main St Diner in Stittsville (where the service is top tier and they have home made preserves on the tables), the absolute dog food they’re serving here is not worth the price and it’s worth spending the money on fuel to...
