Update !! This used to be our GO TO place , we loved it and the food. Last few years it has been on a serious decline, we have now removed it from our places to go list. The most recent time we went, only a week ago, our waitress was as stale as the buns that was served. The bread was so salty I could not eat it ( we used to love their buns ). Our favorite was always their muscles, but this time the sauce was off and extremely spicy. Our guest ordered a personal pizza that was not cooked properly and was very doughy. We mentioned it to the waitress, who honestly could have cared less. She plopped down the bill and walked away. On our way home ( hour and 1/2 drive) we decided that was our last time there. So sad to see such a beautiful location with such awful food. Below is my review from 3 years ago: Love this beautiful spot on the rideau canal. Amazing food and service!

I have been here back in 2017 when I lived for a summer and now I came back for a vacation with my husband. I was really hoping that they did not close down (like many restaurants post the pandemic) and I was very pleased to know it is standing still with the same great food, service, and view/atmosphere. I absolutely love this place, it makes me feel so at ease and relaxed. I ordered the canal ritz pizza, I couldn't decide between that, the artichoke one or goat pizza, so I asked the server to make a choice for me. I was happy with it, the dough is very light and soft/tender, the toppings are sauteed and full of flavour. I also got a chocolate brownie (in picture), which was decadent and rich in flavour as well. The servers are nice and the service speed is just right. I could come here every day if I could. Thank you for a nice visit

A Nice Little Gem With A Lovely Canal View We came here for lunch (Nov 11) to celebrate a special birthday with a view of Rideau Canal. We were not disappointed. That was the real reason we considered coming to Canal Ritz. For the next hour we enjoyed the lovely view facing the canal. It is not the best ideal timing now that Fall is nearing the end but we still enjoyed the moment. The restaurant had its own parking lot which was very nice. The meals were quite good. Myself had the Canal Ritz burger while my wife had the special; Seafood Fettucine (w/ mussels). Meals were fresh and tasty. The Irish coffee, gelato and cream-cheese pie were also great. The waitress was quite nice and even offered to take pictures of us. I will definitely come back here again, but maybe in the summer or Spring to enjoy the outdoors.

This place does not live up to its name. I don't even know where to begin.... I went with a small group of people for a late lunch. I ordered a Shock Top, which tasted sour. The poor excuse for a slice of orange wasn't even fresh, but looks like it's had been cut days prior and just sat out. As for the main, again very disappointed. I ordered the salmon, which had been over cooked. The bottom of it had been fried so much there was a crispy layer that was dried out underneath. It wasn't a very generous portion either, maybe 1.5 inches by 3 inches. The 'roasted' veggies looked like they were frozen as they were shriveled up and slightly burnt. The rice was ok. Again, lemon to squeeze juice on it was not fresh (come on... a lemon for Christ sake isn't a rare commodity.) and had been cut a day or so before and left to dry out as I couldn't squeeze much juice out of it. Hoping to redeem the Shock Top, I ordered a Michelob only to be failed again as it also had a sour taste to it. I didn't bother finishing it. As for dessert... well... now... it was actually really really good! I had got the Double Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake. Sadly, it's not even made in house but store bought from the Bagel Shop apparently. Needless to say, the food provided was really not all that great or what you'd expect from a restaurant that has the word 'Ritz' in its name and it's 60+ dollars I won't ever get back. Service on the other hand was decent. I could have hit up this place at a bad time or something but once was enough to keep me...

I use to love this place, my family has been going there for years! We went to celebrate my sister in laws 33rd Birthday and the worse part was my wife and I were the one's who recommended the restaurant tonight. I ordered their fillet mignon special for $40 and asked for medium rare. The steak showed up dead on my plate, extremely well done, no pink whatsoever. The waitress was very kind and re ordered a second steak that came back so rare nearly blue, just seared on the outside. My sister in law sat there with a dish that on the menu stated a cream sauce with mushrooms and prosciutto.....the meal sat in front of her with no mushrooms, no prosciutto, no cream sauce, rather an oily looking sauce. After complaining at this point, we were given the excuse of Covid and that they should update their menu to reflect the plates they're serving??? Hopefully they realize that customers order and choose food based off the the description provided on the menu. Completely unacceptable. The manager was courteous and did do her best to adjust the bill. Unfortunately, I would rather pay $300-$400 for a good meal and a good experience and not leave into the parking lot apologizing to everyone feeling utterly embarrassed that we recommended and ruined her Birthday dinner......shame on you guys....mostly the kitchen I guess, but also the management. If you don't have the ingredients to reflect what is on your menu, dont...

Freezer burn cardboard tasting pizza. Like when you are a student in the dorms & get the cheapest frozen pizza & instantly regret it. Worst pushy rude service ever so inconsiderate. Compared to this, McDonald’s is a Michelin star haute cuisine fine dining restaurant. However, great dessert, cocktails and view. Do NOT go there for dinner, just drink & dessert.

The way the food tastes one assumes that they don’t have a kitchen which is bizarre for the price. Their desserts and cocktails can’t be ruined from frozen but you really have to be hyper assertive with the pushy inconsiderate money grabbing tacky waitress who doesn’t care about you at all but keeps pushing you and interrupting you and trying to manipulate you.

I was out with a friend who was sad they were always feeling interrupted in their life & wanted to feel listened to. I suggested we relax, grab some cocktails and dessert by the water. Waitress had what looked like a cigarette burn on her shirt. She bullied us and was all emotionally manipulative interrupting my friend the whole time stressing her out more and making her feel worse. If you are a man, this is the last place you want to take a woman on a date with the service.

Amazing view. Great desserts & cocktails. Terrible service &...
