Rude staff. I love Cobs, I have been going to the chain since I lived out west. It’s a great chain and the products are always delicious. I do want to comment on my recent experience with the staff at this location. Last Sunday, my brother was over and we thought we would like some Cobs for after dinner. I checked online and it showed they were open until 7- it was 4:30 so we went. When we walked in, one employee was cleaning up shelves and putting stuff away. There were two other employees not at the counter who were chatting to each other. None of them acknowledged us or asked us what we wanted. We waited, finally the person cleaning made eye contact so I said hi and asked if they were open - I didn’t want to bother staff who were closing out and was worried I got the time wrong. The person said yes but didn’t ask what we would like or acknowledge me other than to stare at me. I asked if we could get the cinnamon rolls and if we could get them frosted. On her way to the back to frost them she said something one of the other staff who had finally moved to the counter to help her. He started laughing and sarcastically talking about “yeah right we’re closed what does it look like” I can understand making fun of customers to let off steam when you are alone or not out front but it was right in front of me! I said “I can hear you” and they both had the good sense to look a bit embarrassed. I couldn’t believe it. I always try to be polite and considerate as I used to be a cook and worked in restaurants. I don’t think making fun of a customer’s question- whether you found it stupid or not right in front of them is very professional....
Read moreBread is amazing here but a 1 today- went in at 6:30 this morning to get bread and cinnamon bun. Bread was too hot to slice , so sent me home with bread in brown bags. Got home, no plastic bags to put bread in once it cooled. Brought bread back later to ask for them to slice it- told they could not due to cross contamination. Firstly, I had done this before a little angry at this point. Thank gosh the person at the counter understands customer service- sliced me 2 new loaves- no cost. Point to this- the person who served me this morning should have said I could not bring bread back to get sliced. Second, if store is opened at 6am- there should be at least a few of each type of bread should be cooled enough to slice- not everyone can go in at 630 am and then come back to pick up the bread sliced at...
Read moreNot only a great bakery, but eager to please with my 3 visits. Early July I rolled in, grabbed some scones/cinnabuns (wow - good). A nice lady said there is 50/50 chance of the healthy FOD bread being ready and to their standards, later that day. "We'll call you". Lack of listening means I go back and they felt bad and said grab a loaf on us. So I grabbed a sunflower flax sourdough. July 11 I call to ask for special order of FOD bread and they said they'll try for Wed, come grab one. They CALLED to say its ready and not quite to standard. I go get it, held aside and it looked fine to me (soft, looked normal). A nice young clerk said its not quite where we want it to be, on the house. Like really? A franchise with small town service I used to get growing up outside Ottawa. ...
