Hello Sushiman is one of those hidden gems. While I haven’t tasted sushi from every place in Ottawa, I’ve been to the all you can eat joints here and there. Compared to those, this is 1000 times better than anything those places could ever serve. Food here is amazing and worth the wait and the price! We usually order the 36 piece with 8 Philadelphia rolls and 8 diablo rolls. Huge pieces of sashimi and huge rolls. You can tell that everything is made with the utmost care! Now, for all those people complaining about long wait times! I wish Google had down thumbs so I could down vote all their reviews. My response to all those reviews is, if you want fast service, there’s a Wendy’s or McDonals down the road... this is NOT fast food people! This is a quality restaurant, even if it’s small. Another thing, there’s one guy making the food, so yes half hour to and hour+ wait time is reasonable! It’s called being patient and calling ahead, not that difficult. if you can’t wait for good food and find it too expensive, then maybe you should stick to fast food.

Hello Sushiman is definitely one of the best sushi places in Ottawa. They use great quality fish, and their rice is also quite nice. What's also convenient is that they have a variety of maki roll selection, ensuring that everyone has something to choose-- even the picky eaters. The reason I can only give 4 out of 5 stars is the service. By this, I don't mean that the staff is rude or anything like that. What I mean is that when it comes to placing an order, it's a luck of the draw whether you get through or not. I've called every 2-5 minutes over the course of an hour from 3 - 4pm and was unable to get through. Eventually I just gave up trying. I mean, for the owners this is a great problem to have-- it shows that there's a lot of demand for their food. But this is something they really need to fix as they will start to lose clientele, as it's quite frustrating to go through this process every time.

Don't get me wrong, their sushi is good but their ordering system and service are horrendous! They don't offer online ordering and as a matter of fact, you have to call numerous time and try to connect to a call and that is if they decide to pickup the phone. After trying 10 times, I drove there, placed my order at 16:10 and they told me that it was gonna be ready at 19:30. I got there that evening to realize that there is a lineup but without any clear indication on whether the lineup is to pay or for pickup. Once I managed to pay, the cashier go check my ordering number just so that they could bump me to the next one and she tells me to go wait in my car for 10-15min. Their product is good, but they need to work on their client service.

I have edited my review. Since I first posted this 4 months ago, they have made significant improvements in having food ready at the agreed upon time. Only thing lacking is the phone system. You still have to call 20+ times until it connects. Apart from that it’s a 5 star review for me. Hellosushiman is the best sushi in Orleans and it’s not even close. Reason for my 3 stars has nothing to do with the quality of the food. I can’t count on my two hands the amount of times I went for a scheduled pickup and had to wait 30+ min in my car for the order. Latest time was 45min wait. The staff are super nice and usually give out free miso soup, but the fact that this has happened in the double digits is just worth mentioning. It’s gotten to the point that free soup isn’t worth the amount of time wasted. The other notable issue is that it’s incredibly hard to call them. During their open hours, it usually goes right to a “customer is not available” message. You have to redial non stop until you get through. I’ve called over 100 times on time to get through. Those two things make the experience not enjoyable. It’s at the point that we’re probably going with a lesser sushi spot to avoid those issues. I have to close this review by saying that their sushi is absolutely amazing. If they fixed those two issues, it would be a no brainer for...

Consistently delicious, excellent quality, and wonderful service!

This is my go-to place for when I want take-out and they consistently deliver excellent quality sushi. The fish is fresh and flavourful, rice is seasoned well, vegetables are always fresh and crisp, and they put time and care into their presentation--it always looks as good as it tastes! Order the Hot Night roll if you love spicy salmon :) their lunch combos are particularly great deals in terms of price and portion.

Some people have commented that they are expensive--there are definitely more costly options in Orleans so this seems unfair. Their quality is well worth the price and I'd happily pay more. If you want cheap sushi, go to Farm Boy lol

Pro tip: definitely call ahead to order, especially on a Friday or Saturday. They are super busy because they are awesome, and they aren't quick because they don't rush to give you McFood. I promise it's worth the price...
