Just feeling a bit shocked by my order… I ordered 2 brisket sandwiches at $15 each without combo. $15 is just the sandwich... a competition plate and a beef rib plate. Total was over $100. attached is the picture advertised for the “competition plate” vs what I received. The competition plate was $28! Absolutely nothing like the photo, the brisket is dried and hard. The burnt ends are not actual burnt ends, just dry thick hunks of brisket. The side of Mac is literally half the size compared to the photo, and it’s the worst most commercial fast food tasting Mac you can imagine, tastes like it came from a huge bucket, and looks like soup with soggy macaroni in it. Second issue…. 35$ for ONE rib…. In case you are wondering about the rib plate.. it is indeed one single rib, and of course not a whole rib, just a PIECE of a rib. The brisket sandwiches are just hamburger buns with dry brisket inside. Nothing else. No sauce no nothing. The rib is the only thing that tastes good. But at $35 for one small rib it’s a big NO for me. As I said just overall a pretty big shock. I will never order from here again. I’m so tired of restaurants who do this 🤦🏼‍♀️ if it’s too difficult to make your food match your advertising change your advertising or change your food… total false advertising. If you took a pic of ANY of the things I ordered and advertised with those photos I would never have ordered. I actually came back to this review as I’m putting all the food back in the back and decided I’m actually going to call you for a refund. This order is unacceptable and I’m not going to just let it go.

Ordered the picnic package with beef brisket on April 3, 2023 for dinner for my family. Was excited to try something new. Unfortunately, we were all disappointed with the food. The picnic dinner comes with four buns, 1 lb of meat, and two medium sides. I ordered the corn and coleslaw. Where do I begin, there were quite a few issues. 1. I though the buns were to make sandwiches with the meat, but they were tiny dinner rolls. One of the four was wet and soggy, and the other three were borderline stale. 2. The corn was tasteless and the coleslaw was disgusting. It looked like green soup. The containers were also only 3/4 filled and one of the lids was damaged so the corn leaked in the bag. 3. The beef brisket was okay, but some of it was dry and none of us liked the flavour. 4. I added a side of fries and onion rings. Both are like shoestrings and extremely greasy. Ultimately, most of the food ended up in the green bin. We won’t be going back to this restaurant.

I'm familiar with the Dickie's franchise in the US. One of my favorites for sure. The experience here in Barrhaven was quite a bit different than the US locations. Some of the reviews have been brutal. My wife and I ordered 2 meat plates. We tried the brisket, burnt ends, turkey and chicken breast. Our sides were fries, onion tanglers and mac & cheese. Overall the food was good, not great. I feel like the floors have been tweaked for the Canadian palette in some way. The food definitely tastes different than the US. Also, I expected free soft serve ice cream and a BBQ sauce bar like the US and that wasn't the case. The staff does need to develop. Give them some time. The washrooms should be cleaner and the dining area maintained better. Dirty tables. In summary, good (not great) food, small portions and high prices. I'm confident the service and cleanliness will improve with time.

  • Update * I must have caught them on a bad day. Ordered once more from this establishment to give them a second try after being open for a couple of months and wow! The food was night and day from my last experience.

The brisket was moist and delicious, their barbecue sauces are great and the mac and cheese while very basic, this time around was tasty and hot. 4/5 you guys are doing food right now. I still think you should offer ribs, but that's a business decision for yourselves to make!

Thank you so much!

Previous Review I visited this establishment this evening and ordered a little bit of everything. The total bill was $280. It is painfully obvious that the people who opened this restaurant know and care very little for barbecue and are likely in it to just pull in as much cash as possible.

  1. The meats were all dry.. like really dry. (Brisket, Chicken, and Wings)
  2. No menu online anywhere that reflects the Canadian offerings.
  3. No Ribs…..? How do you have a barbecue restaurant without ribs?
  4. Poorly trained staff. The staff didn’t even know how to punch in many of the items on the menu.
  5. The lady taking orders when I was there spoke very low and customers were having a hard time hearing her.
  6. The staff I interacted with were all very nice and helpful. The problem lies with management and ownership. Nobody at this restaurant seemed to even really know much about barbecue.

Really wanted awesome barbecue in Barrhaven, but this is not it. The food was not good. The service was fine. Overall...

Walking in and knowing it was a franchise I didn't set my expectations too high. They are still getting into the flow of things as they opened less than a week ago but I wouldn't say I was overly impressed with the food. Between the two of us we each got a 1 meat plate of brisket and burnt ends and the bill was close to $50 which in todays market is not a surprise. We were originally going to have beef ribs and chicken but they had already run out so we had to change our order. It is also obvious that they are still in the midst of training as there was a lot standing behind the counter and getting the order repeated multiple times to get it right

As other people have stated in reviews the brisket is dry and you need to have the sauces which were underwhelming in flavour and runny (however this could be construed as personal preference so ymmv). The baked beans had no flavour, the Mac and Cheese pasta was mushy and the cheese sauce was gluey and the coleslaw was running neck and neck of being worse than a large fast-food chicken place nearby.

I can understand the need to try it yourself but maybe wait a few more weeks so they can get themselves organized. If you want BBQ in the city there is another halal bbq place near Bank who has a good spread (and actually has beef ribs on hand) and there is a chip truck in the area during spring to late fall who does BBQ weekly events (with pork options as well) and does them...
