Shawarma Heaven — Restaurant in Ottawa

Shawarma Heaven used to be a great place to go and have a delicious shawarma sandwich or platter. Ever since the new owner and staff took over (about 3 years ago) everything has changed. They changed the formulation for the garlic sauce and now it smells bad and leaves you with a nasty after taste for days( yes even after washing my teeth and using listerine). I believe it has to do with the fact that it doesn’t get digested ( friends and family memebers have complained about stomach pain and ongoing bad breath from the garlic sauce). The potatoes are tasteless, they don’t even taste like regular potatoes, the rice was just regular rice (before it was rice pilaf or a delicious rice with pasta). The salad was okay (a mix of fresh and non fresh toppings) and the dressing they use was very tasty. I think they can let the chicken cook more, they had their grill off (I understand because of the heat but come on, it’s a shawarma place). The meat looked undercooked but they assured me it was fine.

The staff looked like they didn’t want to be there, that’s okay, I never judge because even I hated all of my jobs, I wish they would change glove.

I went a total of 3 times since the new management took over, I would not give a bad/ mediocre review based on 1 bad experience. It sucks that I won’t be able to support this locally owned business because the food isn’t tasty. I’ll give them a try in a year, hope they’ll get the chance to...

For almost every special occasion, my family and I go always go to Shawarma Heaven! The employers are so kind and sweet and are very experienced in their work. There are so many different foods you can buy from here, and the prices are very good! The food is prepared in a very reasonable time and the food is always fresh, yummy, and hot. I never get bored of this place, and I love going as the staff are so sweet and always willing to try their best and give their customers the best experience. The halal food is amazing, and I trust them so much! The chicken and beef is very fresh and chewy and yummy. I LOVE this place and I highly highly recommend you come here for shawarma! The portions are amazing and worth the price!! Please come and try and you’ll never regret it! And Shawarma Heaven keep doing what you’re doing y’all are...

My wife and I absolutely love this place. Favourite shawarma in Barrhaven.

The gentleman with the short white beard is there every single time we go in and every single time he has been happy and friendly.

The food is excellent (the best beef!! Very tender and juicy!), prices are fair, portions are very generous and service is awesome.

Today when we went in for our usual order we noticed a new young man working behind the counter manning the staff. He has obviously been trained by the aforementioned gentleman as he was friendly, polite and generous with the garlic scoop on the potato’s.

I’ve been here a couple dozen times and never once have I had a bad meal. Love this...
